Although, the Nikon Prostaff 7s series is priced higher than the Prostaff 3s series. But, Sometimes cheaper is not the better. Prostaff 3s is suitable for casual outdoor adventures such as boating ,hiking. Also, If you are on a lower budget they can be good companions to go for. Another question is how much of this field of view is actually "useable", as often the outside of the field tends to be somewhat out of focus, unless the binocular is "flat-field"

While Prostaff 7s is perfect for hunters, Prostaff 3s is designed for bird watchers and tourists who like observing wildlife. Users of the two the Nikon Prostaff 7s binoculars said the Prostaff 7s binoculars are more pleasant and impressive to look through. This is because the Nikon Prostaff 3s showed more on-axis chromatic aberration whereas the Prostaff 7s showed lateral chromatic aberration. Lens and Prism Coatings Another similarity in their lenses is that they are multi-coated. Their lenses and prisms feature multi-layered coatings that boost light transmission, resulting in bright and clear images. While specialist and niche Nikon binoculars are available, including its Marine series, the wider use binoculars we’re looking at here can be divided into three families: Aculon, Monarch and Prostaff. The ED II 10x42's FOV (104m) is actually wider than the Zeiss Victory HT (110m), Swarovski EL SV(112m) and the Leica Ultravid(112m) 10x42s! (the "alpha" bins should be sharper at the edges though). They're compact, ergonomically designed, and of rugged construction that prevents any ingress from water if submerged at a depth of one meter for five minutes. Close-up performance is also impressive, with the ability to view subjects as near as 1.5m.

In a nutshell, then, the Nikon Aculon and Prostaff ranges are the ones to seek out if we want to keep our budget low yet want a reliable and simple-to-use binocular – with some Aculon binoculars being a 10th of the price of range-topping Monarch examples – while the aforementioned Monarch family is the one to investigate if we demand the very best and have the cash to invest. Smith is an outdoor enthusiast and Just loves everything about binoculars. Since his childhood he has been a fan of optical gadgets & going into the Jungle with his uncle was his favorite pastime. Besides, He loves watching & studying birds & animals. He is a mechanical engineering graduate and New Jersey Resident. He loves to review binoculars and related optical Instruments and loves testing each one of them." The grip and form of these binos are exceptionally pleasing. Perhaps better than any of the Monarch options. The Nikon Action EX 12x50 is a great value combination of high power and light-gathering. If you really want to get closer to objects then look for binoculars with 16x magnification – and prepare to always use a tripod – but we think 12x is a worthy upgrade from 10x binoculars without hugely adding to the weight.Brightness is slightly less bright than a Vortex Viper 10x, but it is no slouch! It's is bright enough. Equipped with an Eco-Glass optical system, these binoculars offer pretty good image quality. Its roof prism surfaces are coated with high-reflectivity silver alloy, ensuring reliable brightness and clarity. Further optimizing image quality are the multi-coated lenses, which provide exceptional light transmission. Generally, they perform really well in broad daylight. The field of view is wider in the Nikon Prostaff 3s series than the 7s series which means, it is easier to follow moving objects with 3s series than the 7s series binoculars Eye Relief Utilizing a familiar porro prism design, a thread is provided between the barrels for the binocular to be tripod mounted if so desired. Ease of use comes via a nicely resistant focus knob and dioptre wheel, making for easy adjustment even when wearing gloves. While build quality is impressive, with plenty of depth of field provided and images sharp and clear in the main, we did notice a slight drop off in sharpness towards the edges. Despite the extra heft we also feel upgrading to a 12x magnification from a 10x magnification is worth it if long(er) distance observation is desirable.

Binoculars with high eyepoint designs have exit pupils farther from the lenses, allowing you to view images clearly without having to press your face too close to the optics. Eyeglass wearers benefit from this design because it enables them to use their binoculars without removing their eyeglasses. OK, so this budget binocular is rather light on features too. And while it’s lightweight it’s not foldable. However, users do get adjustable turn-and-slide eyecups, and a familiar central focus knob, as well as multi-coated lenses that maximise light transmission to provide a sharper view. Also catching our eye is its slim and stylish single-hinged design, while a soft case, strap and eyepiece caps are included out of the box. Not the most sophisticated or powerful option here, granted, but a very, very affordable starter binocular for the casual observer. Nikon has been around since 1917. It was founded after the merger of three optical manufacturers, aiming to create a fully integrated optical company. As they say, the rest is history. This is my first post so please bear with me. I have been into astronomy since I was 12 and while I've owned numerous telescopes over the years, I've never owned a good pair of binoculars. My husband gave me a pair of what seem to be 25 year old Bushnell 7x35s. This ARE old and as such aren't perfect, but it's shown me how much I could probably cross over into birding with whatever I end up getting. Edge sharpness is respectable, with a little bit of dimness and distortion near the edges. Because of the wide FOV, you can hardly see the edges anyway. This battery-operated option enables you to get wobble-free images of far-reaching views by just pressing a button on the binoculars – and the stabilizing effect is both instant and jaw-dropping. The Prostaff series 3s 8×42 has an eye relief of 20.2 mm as compared to 19.5mm eye relief of Prostaff 7s 8×42, Also Prostaff 3s 10×42 has an eye relief of 15.7mm as compared to 15.5mm of Prostaff 7s 10×42. I recommend these bins for anybody strapped for cash, and looking for a nice usable glassing companion. The Nikon Prostaff P3 binoculars are entry-level and we were really impressed when reviewing them. Nikon has saved on manufacturing costs where it counts, mainly in the accessories that these binoculars ship with, but has retained the high-quality optics that I expect to see in a Nikon product.
