About this deal

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I had the privilege to hear the author read this book out loud and the way she did it, with such lovely rhythm and cadence, made the words sing off the page. Not only are many types of “feet” and “shoes” mentioned, which represent different age groups, styles and activities, but there are drops-in words from a variety of languages that we might hear on a city street. I have been fairly successful at pitching on twitter, at least in terms of getting requests, but this is the first time a pitch has led to publication. As a parent who always reads children’s books before reading to my daughter, I was excited to see such inclusion and love in this book.

There is only one place in the whole book where we see the whole baby and that is hidden under the back cover so take a peek! Because I had lots of ideas for the illustration of this story, my agent suggested that I make a dummy to send to the editor. In addition, there some phrases in different languages which adds to the diversified feel of the book. CITY FEET is a multilingual rhyming tribute to the rhythms and diversity of city streets, shown from a toddler's view of funny, fancy and fabulous feet. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Similarly, she loves illustrating by employing different techniques in a whimsical style that includes watercolor, acrylic, ink, and digital. The main character in this story is a baby that is observing the multitude of interesting and curious legs and feet that are moving in all sorts of ways through the city.

Aixa has lived in several different countries, and draws inspiration for her stories and illustrations from diverse locations.Aixa Perez-Prado has gifted us with a rhythmic story of a child's-eye view of feet on a city street. Though there are no faces pictured, these feet each tell a story as they romp through the year on city streets. The rhythm and rhyme makes the words roll off the tongue, and the colorful art gives kids plenty to find and smile at. The rhythm and rhyme of the words had perfect meter (and I'm usually quite picky when it comes to rhyming books ;).

This shoe lover's paradise reveals that a city's feet are as varied as the people and animals who live there.I love that the focus isn't just on what the footwear looks like, but what the people are doing as they go about their day in the city - bouncing, waiting for a bus, dancing, playing hopscotch, waiting in line, dragging as they get tired. Aixa Perez-Prado takes the reader on a journey through the city (or cities) to show such diversity and community in a really wonderful way. Her current passion is writing and illustrating picture books aimed at giving diverse children a chance to see their multilayered identities represented through stories that resonate with heart and humor.
