The easiest way to bring this list to 2000 points is to add Nagash, God of the Unquiet Dead. This takes the list to 1955 but you do lose the one drop Battle Regiment. Ideally you’d remove the Spirit Torment (it’s roll is replaced by Nagash) and either have 2 units of 20 Chaingasts and add some Craventhrone Guard or Hexwraiths. You could reinforce the Spirit Hosts into a unit of 6 then. Much more diversity in artefacts here, 3 tables with 6 weapons, 6 relics and 3 lanterns which are exclusively used by Guardian of Souls. Weapons of the Damned Shyish Reaper –Casting Value 7. A predatory spell that moves 8″ (12″ in Shyish), the controlling player can pivot it before moving it and for every model it passes over, roll a die, if the die rolls higher than their save characteristic, deal 1 mortal wound. Like Aethervoid pendulum but with more control, which kind of goes against why you’d take that spell (To keep an opponent from using it on you). Don’t bother.

To aid Reikenor in his appointed task, Nagash has bound to him Kyllaron, a fierce winged Nightmare. Mounted on the undead steed's head armour are a grim assortment of corpse candles. They are a unique mix of tallow rendered from Reikenor's former apprentices along with a grave-sand mix. Indeed, after his soul was claimed by Nagash, it was the Grimhailer's own disciples that were his first target. They too were blasphemers and Nagash deemed their fate fitting. By snuffing out the flame of a corpse candle, Reikenor can end the life of a nearby mortal or siphon off a portion of his own essence - either way, by doing so he creates a surge of arcane force to empower his enchantments. The Grimhailer is now condemned to kill forever, and that he must extinguish light and create darkness to do so is a cruel twist that Nagash holds as one of his most just punishments. [1a] Shrieking Blade –-1 to hit the bearer with melee weapons. Good protection as while your Heroes aren’t affected by rend you cant improve their save either, so you need to find other ways to protect them B+ I’ve used the full Vanguard box including the Knight of Shrouds. This creates some issues with the choice of small heroes, for a 1000 point list I would normally prefer to use a Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed and a Guardian of Souls. Instead I’ve used Reiknor to provide some mobile threat and casting with the Knight of Shrouds. A niche utility unit that doesn’t see much play. They can attempt to unbind a spell as a wizard does, gaining +1 to the unbind roll for every 4 models. And that’s it. You likely won’t have enough models to get more than +1 to unbinding without paying more points than they’re really worth. While they can also eat an endless spell, it comes at the cost of the unit taking D3 mortal wounds, something you cannot afford on a unit of one wound models. You have plenty of casters, let them do the heavy lifting. Dreadscythe Harridans

In Shyish, Reikenor is known by many names - the Grimhailer, the Reaper-wraith and the Storm Rider among them. Sorcerer, master of terror, reaper of souls, fell lieutenant of Nagash - Reikenor is all these things and more. [1a] Naturally, the Daemons of Chaos get a few compelling options, but just take a look at this section of the table of contents – there are loads of interesting entries to ponder.

That’s at least 8 free wounds per game (on average) and potentially many more. The curse could easily clear a battleline unit per game.Immune to Rend –All of your units ignore modifiers to saves, positive or negative making high rend opposition useless. As a powerful sorcerer-king he gathered many acolytes and followers to his cause, using his mastery of light magic to try and defeat mortality itself! Although Reikenor had vast knowledge and understanding of the energies of Shyish he merely attracted the malign attention of Nagash. [1] Upon detecting blasphemies, Reikenor swoops down upon his winged steed shrieking the syllables of powerful hexes whilst dealing sweeping blows with his scythe, Fellreaper. However, even those Reikenor slays in battle he is not finished with - for such unfortunates he has further torments in store. [1a] These are equipped on Guardian of Souls only. They’re pretty niche and rarely taken but you will likely bring Guardian of Souls in many lists so it’s not entirely without merit.

The Nighthaunt book is pretty dry on Command traits. There aren’t a few different tables for each type of commander, it’s just one with 6. They’re pretty mediocre, so many will choose to run Lady Olynder as a General due to her special ability rather than getting a command trait, we’ll discuss what that does in her unit entry but it is pretty competitive. Anytime the Chainrasps are affected by Spectural Lure or Temporal Translocation, spells that let you return dead models you can return an additional D6 dead models. If you’re bringing 2 large squads of Chainrasps, which is certainly viable, this battalion makes them a huge pain in the ass. Execution Horde Are the two separate units, extra CP, extra Artefact, and 5+ fnp worth 150 pts as opposed to just having a unit of 20 for 320? Have you felt the chill of the grave rising through a faint mist? You enjoy painting pale figures stalking out of the horizon and falling on your enemy like the tide? Or have you read the lore and know that Nagash is the true inheritor of the World that Was and you want to join the right team? Have you decided it is time to up your miniature storage game? The Legion of the First Prince can draw on the unfathomable numbers of Be’lakor’s minions to grind their enemies down, represented by the Unyielding Legions battle trait. If you are settled on using Bladegheist Revenants, would you pay the extra 110 for a Warscroll Battalion (and an extra 40 for 20 Revenants since they have to be two separate units)? The Nighthaunt Vanguard set makes it easy to get into the army and gives you a reasonable starting position. Warhammer Underworlds Warband. As can be expected the same story is true here, due to requiring they come with the warband, the point cost is inflated to a point that makes the Hero themselves worthless. If you can even get one at this point, as they were in the second edition of Warhammer Underworlds which has since gone out of print. Battleline

This list is meant to be straightforward and adaptable. Everything is in a battle regiment to give control of priority, however there is an option to place 3 of the battle line infantry into Expert Conquerors and the remainder into a Battle Regiment. Expert Conquerors makes the infantry count as 3 models on objectives – the Chainrasp would count as 60 models. Our Preference is to go second to make your opponent come to you (keep out of line of sight if they have shooting) and hopefully get the double turn. You can also redeploy up to 3 units via Vanishing Phantasms into reserve before the start of combat and then set them up in ambush (9” from the enemy).

Assembly Instructions for Reikenor the Grimhailer – Warhammer Age of Sigmar (AoS).

Much of Reikenor's origins are mysterious, lost to time, but what is known is that he was once a learned sorcerer-king who sought to overcome death. Through the magic of Hysh - harnessing the very light of reason - Reikenor worked towards preventing all mortality. His quest for knowledge on the subject was all-consuming, and he attracted many acolytes and followers. Eventually Reikenor's attempts to unbind the workings of death drew the ire of Nagash himself. [1a] The book contains two Nighthaunt Processions, which add additional keywords and allegiance abilities to your army. If you choose Lady Olynder’s Emerald Host, for example, your Hexwraiths become the Knights of Regret, Dolorum’s elite household guardians. As a wizard he may cast one spell and deny one spell. I’ve given him Shademist which has a casting value (CV) of 6 and allows him to grant a friendly unit within 12” -1 to incoming wound rolls. He can place this on himself. He also brings special ability to improve his casting (Corpse Candle) and a warscroll spell (Wraithstorm).
