One of the tropes I dislike the most in books is the miscommunication trope, and is something that was evident between Persephone and Hades in the previous books, but not this one! Honestly, most of the notes I made whilst reading this book was just my frustration over the Goddess of Spring. In the second instalment, A Touch of Ruin, the enthralling love story between Hades and Persephone continues to evolve.

He has MILLENIA of habits he needs to unlearn, and the fact that Persephone expects him to be perfect within months of meeting is so selfish and self-absorbed. When Hera, Goddess of Women, approaches Hades with a plan to overthrow Zeus, he declines to offer help. She has a master’s degree in library science and information studies and a bachelor’s in English writing. I didn't like Persephone as a journalist and some of the dialog was tough to believe but all in all 3.My second read of the month was The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi and translated by William Scott Wilson.

I definitely should have done book reviews after each of these books instead of doing one for all of these books now, but lesson learned for future series that I begin! It will obviously feature a little bit of overlap, but flipping between the two series will offer more enlightenment to events with both perspectives while maintaining some of the suspense for the larger storyline. There is so much going on with the other gods and Olympians with an uprising from a group of demi-gods who want to bring down the gods.Hera, the Goddess of Women, asked Hades for his support in her plan to overthrow Zeus, and when he declined, she sentenced Hades to a series of labors as punishment. Hades, God of the Underworld, is known for his inflexible rule, luxurious night clubs, and impossible bargains. I half expected her to have an orgasm after she read one and I’m just thinking “ma’am I’m trying to listen to the book, not you pleasure yourself. I think it’s a great way for new authors to get their work out to an audience, especially an audience that might be smaller than a publisher wants to bet on.
