The strong presence of communication between the main characters made this book even hotter ( like Finn!!!!! can you stop flirting with my mind!!!!❤️) Kay Cove, who was born in Colorado Springs but raised all over the place (thanks, military! ), enjoys blowing raspberries on her sons’ super pudgy baby bellies, going on long hikes in the snow, and engaging in heated debates with her husband over the distinction between different species of turtles and tortoises, Marvel facts, and, most crucially, the whereabouts of the remote control. I was expecting a ring on my thirtieth birthday. What I didn’t see coming was my boyfriend and business partner dumping me because he couldn’t bear the idea of our bland sex life for the rest of our lives. When an opportunity arises to spend my summer in Las Vegas, I stumble upon my hot new neighbor and his photography studio. We strike a simple deal. He’s the teacher, and I’m his student. My lesson is learning to love the body I have. In exchange, I’m going to save his business. I have exactly one summer to unearth the most confident version of myself before I go home and return to reality. But after a passion-fueled summer, I’m not sure of who I am anymore, and it’s clear that the worst heartbreak of my life might still be yet to come. Camera Shy by Kay Cove – eBook Details I absolutely loved the Love, Me and the 303 Series by Kay Cove and when she announced she was looking for ARC readers for her standalone novel, Camera Shy, I freaking RAN to apply. I was expecting a ring on my thirtieth birthday. What I didn’t see coming was my boyfriend and business partner dumping me because he couldn’t bear the idea of our bland sex life for the rest of our lives.

Finn is one of my favorite book boyfriends. I love what he does for a living. Giving woman the gift of feeling empowered and confident through photographs. And I love it!! Even with everything that he went through in his past relationships, he didn’t let that change his view on women. I feel compelled to express my deep affection for Avery, for whom I have nothing but the highest hopes from the moment I met her. This woman embodies strength and beauty in equal measure. Her development throughout the book was fascinating to read about.

Camera Shy Summary

And that is what happened… and kind of not. I’m not sure I’ll be able to put all my feelings into words on this book. I think the most accurate to my feelings are that while I respect, admire, and appreciate the premise of a story like this, parts of the actual execution missed the mark. I’ll go deeper into the areas that affected me negatively later, but first a bit more on the story for context. Don't ever forgive him for being in the presence of royalty and refusing to bow. You're sexy, smart, kind, and loyal. You should be earned every day of your life. Don't ever let any man make you question that." When I get the chance to spend the summer in Las Vegas, I end up discovering my neighbour is a hot photographer. We agree to a basic arrangement. I’ll admit, that shit hurted. I felt eviscerated with every word out of Mason’s mouth on Avery’s behalf. But I thought, OK, get away from that toxic sewer rat and let’s START this self-love journey while having the hottest, filthiest sex imaginable.

She had a chance meeting with the neighbor next door, Finn, and he was hot. Like waaaaay out of her league hot (or so Avery believes). But waaaaay out of her league hot, the kind of hot that someone like Avery believes she has no chance in hell with, is the kind of hot she can preemptively put in the friend zone. So with no chance of actual romance or feelings, maybe she’ll have the courage to ask him to teach her all about the things in sex she may be missing… Finn walks in and finds them and Avery, in her mind-boggled desperation to be what Finn wants, or what she thinks he wants (PLEASE JUST COMMUNICATE), tries to start a threesome. It is so obvious in the writing she doesn’t want to do this, Finn is so obviously aware she doesn’t want to do this, I don't think he wants to do this, yet it continues… Y’all the steam in this book is *chefs kiss* and had me SWEATING 🥵😮‍💨 Finn’s mouth was so dirty and I freaking LOVED it. I’m a little conflicted with this one as on one hand I loved it but on the other there were certainly parts I didn’t like. So the actual scene leading up to the attempted threesome and the attempted threesome itself. Let me reestablish two things: Avery got cheated on by her long-term boyfriend. And Avery and Finn both agreed that the “relationship” they have going on was exclusive, no sharing, just them. So now let me say that the attempted threesome scene starts with AVERY kissing an OW!!!!!! Did we really need a cheater move in a story about a woman healing from the trauma of the action’s of a cheater???? Like please don't make me read this.

What flavour this book has!! A pleasant surprise awaits you. In my honest view, it only deserves a three out of five. I just love how the two of them worked together to help each other improve different aspects of their lives. Her self image and his business. Don’t ever forgive him for being in the presence of royalty and refusing to bow. You’re sexy, smart, kind, and loyal. You should be earned every day of your life. Don’t ever let any man make you question that.” Avery got dumped on her 30th birthday and she thought that her boyfriend of many years would propose to her, but instead he broke her heart. I relate with Avery’s character so much and love how she gained so much confidence as the book progress. After deciding to help one of her client by watching his house while he goes on a tour, Avery didn’t expect to meet Finn, who is her next door neighbor.

Avery.. I relate to her so much. The insecurities, the a**hole ex, the PITA (she’s a lot more than this but I don’t want to give anything away) best friend. She’s got a lot going for her - a good job, a long term boyfriend… then in the blink of an eye everything changes. Plus, Finn! I’ve found a new literary crush. Sincerely, I adore him. He truly cares about Avery and wants what’s best for her. Love for him just happens. I love love love how real and relatable Avery was as a curvy FMC. We get to see her be this strong bad ass business women who is so confident in herself professional life but still struggles with her body image. It’s pretty validating to read a character have similar struggle to yourself so I really appreciated her internal dialogue about her struggles and how Finn was able to be her safe person to talk about those insecurities too. After Avery is broken up with DURING her wedding proposal AND on her birthday, she jumps at the chance to house sit for her friend Dex to take some time away and recover.
