Description

Have you ever noticed how every play Shakespeare wrote hinges on lies? Some more than others. Particularly the comedies such as Twelfth Night or As You Like It. People lie, misunderstandings abound, hilarity ensues. But the tragedies and romances all hang on lies and liars as well. I know Romeo and Juliet is the obvious example, but I didn’t love it. Now Othello, that was an interesting love story about liars. Beyond the more complicated motives you have to ask, who was actually in love with whom? I’m not sure there’s a consensus on that. It is also said to be the seal upon the tombs of them that she hath slain, that is, of the Masters of the Temple. Lies Lies Lies is exactly what this book is about, secrets, lies, deception, tragedy, heartache, is rife throughout this enthralling book.

Lies come in every shape and size. From a harmless, itty-bitty white lie, to show-stopping whoppers! And as the title would imply, this book has them all! It is now seen that this Hawk is not Solar, but Mercurial; hence the words, the Cry of the Hawk, the essential part of Mercury being his Voice; and the number of the chapter, B, which is Beth the letter of Mercury, the Magus of the Tarot, who has four weapons, and it must be remembered that this card is numbered 1, again connecting all these symbols with the Phallus.I LOVE this authors writing style and the abundance of words in each chapter, I also love the way although the book was dark there were many rye observations and humour Now, below the Abyss, the manifested part of the Master of the Temple, also reaches Samadhi, as the way of Annihilation. The shape of the figure I suggests the Phallus; this chapter is therefore called the Sabbath of the Goat, the Witches' Sabbath, in which the Phallus is adored. This novel started off strong. I felt emotionally connected to Daisy and Simon with their deep hearted struggle to expand their family. When the novels‘ focus turned to Simon’s alcoholism, my connection faded. Alcoholism is devastating and it is depicted quite well through this story. However, I did feel that at several points, it was overdone. Many scenes, descriptions and chapters surrounding Simon dragged on too long. I felt for Daisy but was also quite frustrated with her accepting many of her predicaments as is, instead of fighting for what was right.

Ever since Simon took he’s first sip of beer aged just six, an unhealthy obsession to alcohol was born.Adele Parks MBE is one of the most-loved and biggest-selling women's fiction writers in the UK. She has sold over 4 million books and her work has been translated into 30 different languages. And the final paragraph, in the words of the noblest simplicity, praises the Great Work; rejoices in its sublimity, in the supreme Art, in the intensity of the passion and ecstasy which it brings forth. (Note that the words “passion” and “ecstasy” may be taken as symbolical of Yoni and Lingam.) The Book of Lies provides fascinating insight into what it’s like living in both present day Guernsey and past, throughout the German Occupation (during World War II and also after the allies had won) and how the Channel Islands were perceived by other nations.
