My only concern is minor, and it’s that I have a sense that the game may start to feel repetitive without expansions to add new cards. Now players have to compete for resource generation, adding another layer of interactivity to the game beyond just pure drafting. Grey cube income is first, so if you can use those grey cubes to complete a card that then boosts your black income, which comes next, then you create a very satisfying chain of events that keeps your engine moving. I normally recommend against hate-drafting, but if you need to burn a card for resources and you have your pick of several, burning the one that helps you and hurts your opponent is the smartest possible move, I think. Personally I would love to see some ore Empire boards to really mix up the different player board options and give players a chance to try some different focused combinations from the beginning.

But yes, the game has tools to leverage that, and yes, your success lies in making the right tactical decisions to use those tools optimally. There are still only 4 rounds in the game, but the draft phase is split into two each round, giving you hidden info to work with. After all 5 materials have been distributed a new set of cards is dealt and play continues for a total of 4 rounds. Beyond that though, I have to say I prefer the moment-to-moment gameplay of It’s a Wonderful World to 7 Wonders. Once everyone has chosen their card, they are simultaneously revealed and then you draft your next card and repeat until you have seven cards each.The Heritage campaigns therefore offer players to live a story and gradually unlock a mini-extension to the base game offering a new mechanic, a bit like a Legacy, but totally replayable because there is no alteration of equipment.

In this game, you will NOT be able to complete all 7 cards that you draft that round (gameplay note: uncompleted cards from previous rounds can be completed in later rounds).No more feel bads when you lose military; instead, you just don’t gain points if you miss out on a resource bonus because you tied with another player.
