Description

The use of Dioralyte Relief in patients with the following conditions should be supervised by a physician:

For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. If you are breast feeding, continue to feed normally. Your baby may need less breast milk so you may need to express some of your milk The contents of each sachet should be dissolved in 200ml (approx. 7fl oz) of drinking water. Use fresh drinking water for adults and children. For infants, and where drinking water is unavailable, the water should be freshly boiled and cooled. The solution should be made up immediately before use and may be stored for up 24 hours in a refrigerator, otherwise any solution remaining an hour after reconstitution should be discarded. The solution itself must not be boiled. When vomiting is present with the diarrhoea, it is recommended that small amounts be taken frequently. Oral rehydration salts soluble tablets (O.R.S Hydration tablets®) (classified as food supplement) are available and can support an uplift in demand. Ask. your doctor. or pharmacistfor advice before taking any medicine if.you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This includes if you are planning to get pregnant or think that you might be pregnant. Important information about some of the ingredients of Dioralyte

Dioralyte should be reconstituted with water and to the volume stated. A lesser or greater dilution may result in electrolyte imbalance. The child taking the medicine is under 2 years old ▲ The diarrhoea has lasted for more than 24–48 hours, you may need other treatment Diluted apple juice has been reported to be a potential alternative to electrolyte maintenance fluids in children with mild gastroenteritis and minimal dehydration. It's best not to eat in the early stages of diarrhoea. After 24 to 48 hours, as the diarrhoea improves, you can start to gradually re-introduce small amounts of food. Make up the solution immediately before use and use it within one hour. If you don't use it within one hour (for instance if you're giving it to a baby over the course of the day) keep it in a fridge. It will keep for up to 24 hours in a fridge.

For oral administration only. Dioralyte should not be reconstituted in diluents other than water. Each Sachet should always be dissolved in 200ml of water. A weaker solution than recommended will not contain the optimal glucose and electrolyte concentration and a stronger solution than recommended may give rise to electrolyte imbalance. If diarrhoea persists for longer than 24-48 hours the patient should be seen by a physician. Dioralyte should not be used for the self treatment of chronic or persistent diarrhoea except under medical supervision. Dioralyte shall not be used for treatment in infants below the age of 24 months without medical supervision. Infants under the age of 2 years with diarrhoea should be seen by a physician as soon as possible. No specific precautions are necessary in the elderly.

If you're bottle-feeding or giving other foods you should stop this to begin with. As the baby's diarrhoea improves you can start to gradually re-introduce formula. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any o.ther medicines. This includes medicines you buy without a prescription, including herbal medicines. This is because Dioralyte can affect the way some other medicines work. Also some medicines can affect the way Dioralyte works. If you do, the drink will become too weak or too strong. It will not work as well. You may also upset the balance of salts in your body. Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies. Severe dehydration may need to be corrected by parenteral fluids initially, followed by oral maintenance if indicated. If the loss of fluid in the diarrhoea is excessive, medical advice should be sought.Diarrhoea should be treated under medical advice in some situations. It's important to see your doctor if you or your child: Prepare just before the medicine is going to.be taken. Do not make in advance. If you are giving it to a baby over the course of the day, you can keep the drink in a refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Always use exactly 200ml to dissolve the contents of each sachet. Don't use more or less water than this, as this will make the solution too strong or too weak and can upset the balance of salts in your body.

Dissolve the contents of each Dioralyte sachet in 200ml water. For adults and children over one year of age use fresh drinking water. For babies under one year of age, or if fresh drinking water is not available, use 200ml of freshly boiled and cooled water to dissolve each sachet. (Don't boil the made-up solution). Get medical advice from your doctor when treating a baby. Your doctor will work out how much to give your baby based on their body weight. Adults (including the elderly): One or two sachets after every loose motion. Each sachet should be dissolved in 200ml of water. No specific precautions are necessary in the elderly. However, care should be taken when administering Dioralyte Relief solution in conditions where normal electrolyte balance may be disturbed (such as severe vomiting or diarrhoea). This is a medicine; Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist. To start with you will give the baby Dioralyte solution instead of feeds over the course of the day. The volume of Dioralyte solution that the doctor will usually recommend you give over 24 hours is one to one and a half times the volume of fluid the baby would usually drink in 24 hours. Always follow the instructions given by your doctor.
