Description

The main functions and controls of BLTouch are the same as the usual auto bed levelling sensor, which consists of an RC servo and microswitch. Thus, BLTouch can be applied on almost every board. Now, you’re going to move the Z-axis down by small increments until the nozzle just grips a piece of paper you place underneath. Because the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 serves as a drop-in replacement for Creality Ender 3 mainboards, the stepper motor wiring should be simply a case of inserting the correct cable into the corresponding connector. For example, the X-Axis stepper motor cable will plug into the XM connector on the SKR Mini E3 V3 mainboard. To move an existing macro file or folder into a directory, select it by continuously pressing the left mouse button. Then drag the macro file to the folder and let go of the mouse button. Useful RRF macros PID Tuning PID Tuning for the heated bed Well, these would be the basic options to configure your BLTouch. Of course, you can configure much more parameters such as limits, polls, travel speeds, etc. But for starters it is more than enough.

As with everything else in the 3D printing realm, the BLTouch can come with problems of its own at times, with the issue of a red blinking light being the most commonly talked about one in the community, which will be our topic today. The recommended is 2mm. As I have seen in some places, but it was a little short after some tests and I decided to set it to 2.5mm. that works for me correctly. Of course, this distance is at your absolute choice, it is only a guideline value. Recently a colleague sent me a BLTouch / 3DTouch sensor from the Geeetech brand. I usually use optical infrared sensors for my printers, but I wanted to try the BLTouch sensors since none had fallen yet by my hands. So I got down to work for Configure BLTouch with BabyStepping in the last Marlin available today and satiate my curiosity.Let’s not discount the old-fashioned physical microswitch. Compared to the BLTouch, this option is less accurate and possibly less reliable in the long term, since the sensing depends on physical components which can wear over time (at least for the physical switches found on most FDM machines). However, you may run into trouble when using a 3rd-party firmware for the BLTouch, such as the Smith3D firmware for the Ender 3 V2, which doesn’t natively support Octoprint. In those cases, you’ll need to customize the Marlin code in the firmware to run with Octoprint. BLTouch plugin for Octoprint Additionally, installing a TFT touchscreen to the SKR Mini E3 V3 is another easy step, especially if the TFT is from Bigtree-Tech. However, the wiring orientation must match the SKR Mini E3 V3. Although the Creality Ender 3 line of printers don’t ship with a filament sensor as standard, many like to add one to their 3D printer. However, because of the many varied options available, it’s hard to include them all. Instead, the above image and below table shows the wiring orientation for the E0-STOP (Extruder 0 Filament Runout Detection) on the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 3D printer mainboard. Signal (White) Because the mainboard features onboard TMC2209 stepper drivers, the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3 is pre-configured to utilise UART mode. Thus no jumpers need enabling for this feature.

The BLTouch is one of the most accurate and reliable sensors available, so it’s no surprise that a few manufacturers such as MakerGear and CraftBot use this device on their high-end machines. If we use a self-leveling sensor (either BLTouch or any other), we must indicate to Marlin the position of the sensor with respect to our print nozzle. This will necessarily be separated and we will define it as coordinates and in millimeters. Comparison would be pointless if micro switch sensor for bed leveling does not include the retraction and deployment method. To make your start G-code routine include the activation of auto bed leveling with the BLTouch, you will need to add the G28 (Auto Home) and G29 (Bed Leveling) G-Codes, respectively, after the bed heating (M190) G-code.

Because you’ll be using the BLTouch to level your Ender 3 V2’s bed and setting the Z-axis manually, you won’t need the limiter switch. M109 S{material_print_temperature_layer_0} ; Wait until the extruder reaches the desired temperature
