A repaint of Masterpiece Condor, Buzzsaw features a very different transformation sequence from the original toy that gives him a fully show-accurate design, with his jet thrusters no longer being separate accessories. Depite all this, he transforms into a mini-cassette the same size as the original toy, although there's just enough extra mass to keep him from fitting inside the original Soundwave toy's chest cavity. He has a camera hidden on a small flip-up tab on his head (based on the camera Laserbeak used in The Transformers: The Movie), and comes with a pink case which can be used to store him in tape mode. Like all the Kreons released that year (at normal retail at least), he uses the new 2015-tooling Kreon body, which basically involves small construction changes on every part below the head, making them largely incompatible with the prior Kreon parts (heads still work fine), but the new tooling adds some extra functionality and structural support. Perhaps most notably, Masterpiece inherited Yuki Ohshima's series of comics colloquially known as the "Wars" series from TakaraTomy's short-lived 2012 Generations toyline (not to be confused with the modern super-brand) beginning in 2015 with " Rodimus Wars," a Transformers: The Movie prequel advertising the then-upcoming MP-28 Hot Rodimus and MP-29 Laserwave. As of this writing, the series is concerned with an ongoing distant prequel to the primary arc of the series' Generations incarnation, " Train Wars," to advertise the Masterpiece G Series Trainbots.

Like Skystalker, Laserbeak has one undocumented feature: his vehicle mode can attach on top of Voyager Class Revenge of the Fallen Mindwipe's alternate mode via two pegs. Additionally, Laserbeak's axe/hook weapons can clip onto Mindwipe's shins. Obviously, Laserbeak and Buzzsaw share the same mold, in different colors: red and yellow, respectively. And in keeping with the Masterpiece style, they have a conversion process that's almost It is also possible that the model is supposed to represent Buzzsaw, but considering Laserbeak is more iconic, it is likely supposed to be the latter. Soundwave was part of a Decepticon deployment stationed in a desert base. The Decepticons plotted to lure the Autobots in a trap through the use of an anti-gravity beam. Using the beam on a nearby human settlement, the Autobots would be duped into coming to the fleshlings’ rescue, only to be themselves trapped by the effects of the beam. If TT designed a new sound wave today it would be different. It would have the advantage of material and design advancements learned through experience. Unfortunately they are just reissuing a old designthose who love Soundwave and/or the whole G1 era; those who want an improved modern version of the character in figure form; those who want a welcoming and approachable sturdy Masterpiece Transformer

As part of TakaraTomy's Encore Generation 1 reissue line, Buzzsaw was released along with Rewind, Eject, and Ravage. Unlike most Encore figures, he features no significant differences from his various previous releases. MPG-01 Masterpiece Shouki recieved an Excellence Award in the "High Target" (read: collector) Toy category at the 2022 Japan Toy Awards. [13] The head under the helmet has no mouth whatsoever, which is somehow creepier than the speaker-mouths of the prior Kreons. In one possible scenario that followed, the Autobots returned to storm the lab shortly after. Soundwave was one of the few Decepticons too afraid of Galvatron's wrath to desert his post, and attempted to fend off the Autobot aggressors. Finding himself on the losing side, Soundwave grabbed the Brain Drain device, and attempted to flee with it.Accessories: "Concussion Blaster", "Sonic Cannon", "Charge Blaster" (all combine to form "Mega-Blaster")

The main difference between this and the Takara-Tomy version of Soundwave is that he has yellow eyes instead of the red. Although I initially preferred the red eyes, the silver paint behind the yellow eyes really bring him to life and have grown on me. Yes, Soundwaves can swap and everything fits nice and snugly in both cases. And this applies to all Decepticon cassettes… Whether by design or coincidence, the Mi Pad's camera ends up on the robot mode's right shoulder where Soundwave usually has his iconic shoulder cannon. He was among the minions who passed Megatron his presents during the holiday season. A Gift For Megatron An energon cube is also included so that you can have Soundwave shoot energon out of his chest like he did in the show. This also has a cutout originally, but I think it looks alright in clear too.Soundwave infiltrated into Autobot City as an inconspicuous music player. Two Giant Bases! Everybody Getting Along, Come On, Fight! Soundwave witnessed the combiners Devastator, Bruticus, and Menasor trying to add the last piece of the Decepticons' new solar tower. Megatron's Ambition!? The Solar Tower Is Built! The Loyal Subjects Laserbeak is a Wave 3 figure with limited articulation, due to his unique design. Laserbeak can, however, "transform" to tape mode because of his folding legs and wings. For every 16 figures, there is 1 Laserbeak. Despite his slight rarity, Laserbeak is easy to find because his box is much lighter than any of the other figures'. Soundwave was one of the Decepticons involved in Megatron's latest ploy, the wipe out humanity through the use of a Destruction Beam and Rumble's earthquake-inducing abilities. Soundwave and Megatron were in the habit of explaining the plot to one another out loud, oblivious to the risk of Autobots wandering nearby and catching wind of their machinations.

Mechanimals were able to process energon without the need of cubes, and it was thinking of this, via the example of the humble ant-droid, that inspired Gnashteeth, now renamed Megatron, to implement the Beast Upgrade, freeing the Proto-races from the need for Energon cubes, and by extension the control of the Builders. Not All Megatrons Games War for Cybertron The Hasbro release of Masterpiece Soundwave features a slightly different deco than the Takara version, such as a yellow visor instead of a red one, and leaving the Rumble/Frenzy gun storage panels on his feet unpainted. All of the accessories included with the Takara release are ported over to the Hasbro set (with the exception of the cut-out images for use with his display panel), plus all five of the Masterpiece microcassettes. The cassettes also feature different decoes than their Takara counterparts (see their own articles for details), and their cases are cast in clear plastic instead of the translucent hot pink the Japanese versions came with. His highly truncated instructions omit any explanation of virtually all of his accessories, action features, and interactions with his minions. Finally, he has a designated number as part of the Thrilling 30 line. Not that many!! Those are all that I have (and a little extra that I will cover in another review).

During one of Hasbro's designer panels at BotCon 2008, an audience member questioned the feasibility of releasing this figure in the 2008 Universe toy line, but without the expensive MP3 player electronics. Bizarrely, Hasbro design director Aaron Archer gave a seemingly prepared statement that did not answer the question at all, and instead stated that Hasbro were unlikely to release Music Label Soundwave in their markets due to the obscurity of the MiniSD memory card format. (For what it's worth, Hasbro's Greg Lombardo had given an actual answer to the same question at BotCon 2007, when he stated that ML Soundwave's innards are so devoted to electronics that removing them might adversely impact the leftover toy's appearance and stability.) And yes, taste being subjective and all that… I daresay MP Soundwave is OBJECTIVELY better than what FansToys was going to do. That isn't to say that FansToys' version didn't look nice – and to be clear, I wouldn't call it "dated" either. But FansToys would be crazy to release it at this stage in the game. Super Cyborg Soundwave is a non-transforming figure released by Super7, standing 11 inches tall and featuring 7 points of articulation. Its key distinguishing feature is a removable torso plate that exposes the detailed sculpted mechanical workings of the character's innards - not just the expected non-transforming Laserbeak cassette but also all sorts of diodes, transistors, and additional tape reels. Soundwave recorded a broadcast of Doctor Heath Blaisedale receiving an award from the President of the United States and reported it to Megatron. Megatron dubbed him a "King of Communication".
