Description

There's a lot of truth in the story, about what we are doing to the ocean; but the plot of the story itself offers a glimmer of hope, that we can all make a positive difference, in healing the sea itself.

So he’s not too happy when a bunch of sea creatures drag him to the abandoned aquarium on the hill, where an imprisoned water dragon needs his help.I think the children who do read this will definitely find something to like, and adults who are used to indulging in this genre will also enjoy their time with it. Alex is a simplified and more linear interpretation of the Curule stool, a cross-legged design from Ancient Rome. This would be a perfect book to explore the eco-friendly themes of marine, coastal management, reducing litter and caring for our oceans. And Owen’s trademark Twitter wit comes to play in this book too – David I hope you narrate the audiobook version!

Alex Neptune, Dragon Thief is a wonderful adventure of friendship, mystery solving, myth proving and dragon stealing! Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. So it's understandable that, when he is drawn to a fluorescent glow above an abandoned aquarium, he is full of fear.A tale of important heists planned by kids and the importance of protecting the ocean and the environment around you. I loved the diverse group of characters and the important message this book sends about the importance of protecting our oceans, sealife and environment and how dangerous things could be for us all if we don't do something about it now! And then we were spoilt with the animal characters – otters, octopus, seagulls and not forgetting the main attraction of the water dragon itself. This is a great story and message for children cleverly mixed together in a funny and interesting way!

In The Best You, author and parenting coach Nima Patel encourages children to think about not what they want to be when they grow up, but who they. I really like Alex, and his character arc as he learned more about himself, his ancestry, his powers, and finally comes to understand why the ocean keeps trying to kill him.

Loving the sprayed edge ♥️ - it’s certainly one that if you like the sound of the plot (or know a kid who does! I feel like there were many different inspirations for this book, definitely there were instances that made me feel that way. He knows he can BREATHE underwater and that there is no risk of drowning, yet it is built up as this massive thing, for what?

There was also a serious message here, about what we're doing to our oceans, our responsibility to them and a scathing criticism of capitalist methods of fixing things for those prepared and able to pay. The character cast was also surprisingly not annoying or hatable (which is becoming more of a plus nowadays). The connection between Alex and the water dragon was precious and because we know there’s going to be a sequel I hope to see that develop and it would be awesome if they got a name. Pleased to say that there is a teaser for book 2 at the end, so this is not the last outing for Alex and his friends! In each book, we see him embark on a new adventure with his found family, made up of his tech-genius best friend Zoey, legend-lover Anil, a sharp-shooting octopus, four acrobatic otters and a thieving seagull.
