Having read it at lightning speed, I concur with those marveling at the newness, yet faithfulness, of this fairy tale. It is indeed something more. When the mansion and the Gentleman comes up, I suddenly felt a resonance with Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell because that story is faithful to the old meaning of faery, rather than the Tinkerbell focus that is so seen today.

Yoon Hyun Min sang one of their OST and I must say that his voice is incredibly good. You must hear it for yourself, "The Taste of Tears". However, I feel like I have been needing much OST from this drama T.T And I would have liked it better if they had played the OSTs more and more and more. Who wouldn't love more OST?I really developed a fondness for Wolf Hadda. Not to say he was the nicest of men but he was a good soul who got a dirty deal from those he trusted. I enjoyed his humor and his relationship with his psychiatrist, Dr. Ozigbo. I loved the scene where she found him showering in the forest. Weekend Box Office Results: Five Nights at Freddy’s Scores Monster Opening Link to Weekend Box Office Results: Five Nights at Freddy’s Scores Monster Opening The Woodcutter is a revenge story but so much more. It's also a psychological thriller that gets us into the mind of an accused man. I love that it was a non-stop guessing game. I felt like I was in one of those labyrinths where you think you know where you are going only to hit a wall. It was mystery after mystery with an end that I never saw coming or even imagined coming. I think I am blue from holding my breath to see what was going to happen next. Honestly, as you can see, this drama comes pretty underrated and had many flaws, but trust me, I did not watch the drama because of all those flaws because what I watched here are the brotherly relationship of the two male leads, the awesome chemistry of the lead partners, the quirkiness and funny conversations of the supporting characters, the cuteness and loveliness of the fairy's family, and above all...the very very very heartwarming message of sharing with one's pain, the realest meaning of true love (more than romance), friendship, brotherhood, and as I previously said, forgiving others and yourself and be forgiven.

Linnell's own marriage to Mary Ann Palmer (1796 – 1865) lasted until her death and resulted in nine children. His first child, Hannah, went on to marry the influential artist, Samuel Palmer, whose unique talent Linnell had helped nuture. A deeply religious man, Linnell was none-the-less critical of the hierarchical structures of the Christian church and questioned the accuracy of the authorised version of the Bible. For this reason he insisted that his own marriage was a civil ceremony, which, because this was not possible in England at the time, involved an arduous and expensive journey to Scotland. Reading the last couple of Reg Hill's Dalziel and Pascoe books has left me wondering, has the old boy lost his touch? Hill has such a delicacy of touch in his writing that a slight loss of it doesn't mean that the results aren't a terrific read but as I reel somewhat and pause for breath on finishing The Woodcutter then I can only say that in any case the answer is a resounding NO! Until 1905, the canyon was known only to a few local woodcutters who descended into it on ropes to cut boxwood. While studying with Varley, Linnell met William Mulready (1786 - 1863), who was to become a close companion. Between 1809 and 1811, Linnell shared lodgings with Mulready in the village of Kensington Gravel Pits, an area made up of gravel quarries, cottages and kilns, now known as Notting Hill Gate. The pair perfected their techniques and together sketched men at work and the local landscapes in the open air. Their portrayal of labouring male bodies in naturalistic working landscapes was innovative at that time, and represented a departure from the picturesque landscape tradition. The exact nature of their relationship is unclear, however, it has been suggested that there was a homosexual dimension to their friendship. These suggestions were prompted by the discovery of letters from Mulready’s wife, Elizabeth, which complain of his sexual desire for young men, accuse him of taking a ‘low boy’ to his bed, and blame the breakdown of their marriage on his homosexual affair with Linnell.

News & Articles

To be honest the story became a little repetitive as it went on. At every challenge the Woodcutter faced he seemed to be defeated, only to find a predictable solution and carry on the next trial to do it all over again...

I feel this was very rushed and with more time and effort could have been shaped into a much better novel. The characters could have actually helped, and deepened the plot without being confused and frustrated.

Hill knows how to create a complicated plot that doesn’t lose the reader’s interest. Even readers who figure out the mystery before the end will want to keep reading to see how all the seemingly disparate pieces fit together and how Wolf and Alva handle the answers they uncover. Reading Paulette Jiles' revenge western Chenneville, it's easy to remember she's a poet. She plays ...
