The Skydome is one of Coleman’s most popular and beloved tents: It’s your classic four-person dome tent with the added bonus of near-vertical walls for added elbow room. What’s not to love? The fabric absorbs up to 99% light. Only a few rays of light penetrate the tent at the edges of the rear window, which can be closed with a flap, and through the gap between the inner and outer tent.

Traditional collapsible poles are what most of us grew up with, and while they’re familiar and uncomplicated, they do take a bit longer to unfold, lay out, and attach to the body of a tent. The easiest collapsible pole tents to pitch are those with a “clip-in” style canopy, which allows the main body of the tent to be simply clipped into the frame from underneath rather than run through a series of snag-prone sleeves. The two rooms for 2 people and 3 people are respectively 120 cm and 160 cm wide. That is too narrow! We recommend a minimum width of 60 cm per person for short stays and 70 cm for longer vacations. Children can also get along well with 50 cm, depending on their age. First, note the 5 Plus in the name. This is probably to make the difference between this tent and yet another which is without ‘plus’ in the name. There is a big difference in the living room design; this Plus tent is with the front brim (awning) above the only door, you can see it in the picture above; the other tent has two doors and the front side is angled and without the brim.The tent is a tunnel-type with 3 rooms. This includes the large living room plus two sleeping units separated by a removable divider. The small family tent can easily cope with bad weather. With a water column of 4,500 mm and a completely sewn-in bottom, your luggage stays dry even in heavy rain. The manufacturer tests its tents in the irrigation system and with the wind machine – not everyone does that. When it’s cold, you can completely close the ventilation with Velcro fasteners on the underside. This is a clever design! The dark tent fabric also reduces the temperature in the sleeping cabin by up to 5 degrees during the day.
