About this deal

Jordon Steele-John, Disability Rights Advocate and Australian Senator 'Chlo's spirit in the face of adversity had me cheering!

An empowering lived-experience guide to celebrating and supporting neurodivergence from 24-year-old actor, social media star and advocate Chloé Hayden. I was diagnosed with autism last year at the age of 24, however, it was something that I had suspected for quite some time. I’ve been looking for books about neurodivergence written by neurodivergent authors and this has been a great place to start. A wonderfully inclusive - and often wonderfully funny - exploration of neurodiversity that never fails to celebrate the positive, Different, Not Less resounds with the lived experience of its gifted author.

While the continuous Disney references don’t resonate with me personally I definitely see how that would also be a huge win for a lot of people. Definite must read for anyone neurodivergent or anyone with ND loved ones or anyone who wants to be an ally or really just anyone.

I've even had friends of mine watch her videos and TikToks of her openly stimming while seeing sharks and say things like "I'm not saying that you two are the same person, I'm just saying we haven't ever seen the two of you in the same room.In the same way that I found Chloe's channel when I needed it most, my greatest hope is that someone will find this book at any stage in their diagnostic journey, and feel the same sense of acceptance and relief I did. Additionally I noticed that Hayden tries to use Disney fairytales as an analogy and stylistic device throughout the book but she’s not very consistent with it. In Different, Not Less, 24-year-old actor, social media star and neurodivergent advocate Chloe Hayden shares the challenges and triumphs of her personal journey with autism and ADHD, including years of struggle as she moved between 10 schools in 8 years, the process of diagnosis and finally the joy of finding her ‘happily ever after’.

That's not me shaming anyone for what they love - I just *don't* relate to the genie from Aladdin in a very significant way, nor do I necessarily agree that Rafiki in The Lion King is coded as having ADHD. This doesn’t have to be a contradiction but in “Different Not Less” these two genres feel so isolated and don’t play well together. Vil spesielt anbefala an fordi an tar utgangspunkt i ein enkeltpersons opplevelser, i stedet for typiske kalde fakta som bøker om disse temaene ofta tar for seg. Taryn Brumfitt, Founder of The Body Image Movement and Director of Embrace and Embrace Kids'Chlo's heartfelt and powerful writing had me glued to my seat and turning the pages, which is no easy feat for this ADHD-er .This book is raw and at times it is sad and scary but it's packed full of HOPE and LOVE and EYE SPARKELS! It was only after a life-changing group of allies showed her that different did not mean less that she learned to celebrate her true voice and find her happily ever after. Eye-opening and very heartfelt, this was a great listen that I highly recommend to anyone wanting to better understand the diversity of neurodivergent minds/experiences! Excellent book, aimed at young autistic people (especially valuable for girls) by a young autistic woman (with some advice for parents of autistic children thrown in too).
