About this deal

At first, I thought I would have wanted the "happily ever after" we would have gotten had this been the final book but I can honestly tell you that I did NOT feel that any of the issues were dragged out, or just "put there" for the sake of creating more text. Apart from a few significant morsels thrown in for the fans of the series and perhaps to justify publishing this book, Sylvia Day does not take the reader, the story nor the characters here nor there. His nightmares now also include Nathan and it’s clear that he does fear Eva’s thoughts and reactions as well (not an unlikely scenario but of everyone, it seems Eva is the least bothered, perhaps because he distanced himself from her and that was all she cared about).

In this book, Gideon and Eva's journey continues as they fight their inner demons and nightmares and work together at maintaining and building a functional relationship filled with intense desire, love and commitment. He tracks Eva’s phone, he knows where she is at all times, he wants her to come work for him so he always knows what she’s up to.

We were colluding to hide a crime, and I’d be lying if I said that didn’t seriously bother me–I was the daughter of a police officer, after all–but the alternative was too awful to consider.

I guess you could think of Bared to You, as the part of the story where they collide and get to know each other, giving in to the inextricable pull they feel. But this is one of the series that drove me deeper into this erotic genre, fueling my love for the all-powerful alpha male!Maybe if she tied up ends with one couple then wrote about side characters who appear in the first book, they should be main in the next book. I hope the next two books come soon, while all of these thoughts and feelings are fresh in my head and in my heart.

I read most subgenres of romance (except inspirational and steampunk) but focus mostly on contemporary and paranormal, with a sprinkling of historical thrown in for flavor.Crossfire doesn’t work as a romance (I don’t want Eva and Gideon to end up together) or a Gothic (no one’s broken both the others’ legs and kept them trapped in the attic so they can’t escape), but it works best as a soap opera wherein you don’t really like any of the characters though you’re still interested to find out what happens. I think that the Brett character was important to this entire scenario because the kiss that Eva and Brett shared in the last book, was also to Gideon’s benefit in trying to sell the idea that there would be no way that a man who had only known a woman for a scant few weeks, and had been unfaithful to him, on one occasion, would kill for her.
