THIS is not a textbook, and it is not a book that is likely to be prescribed in any examination syllabus.

Ranging widely across legal skills, source materials, and methods of study and assessment, it introduces legal problems and describes how to tackle them.

Ranging widely across legal skills, source materials, and methods of study and assessment, it introduces legal problems and describes how to tackle them, and how to look up points of law. It is very well written as well, from Writing essays, to getting a pupillage, it is was very readable. shows how to read and understand these in light of common law principles of precedent, and introduces students to the fundamental legal documents such as statutes and case law. My first non specialised law book purchase in 25 years; concise, well laid out and excellent value for money.

Relevant for law students and as a retired lawyer I wanted to refresh my fading memory on my journey thru law school. Extremely detailed with extensive further reading lists, I have a feeling this book is going to be getting quite the workout over the next couple of years! I do… and I am happy to say that the Cambridge Professor, ATH Smith, has produced the very best effort for a new edition after an absence of 20 years. The First and Second Editions were published in 1945, the Third in 1950, the Fourth in 1953, the Fifth in 1954, the Sixth in 1957, the Seventh in 1963, the Eighth in 1969, the Ninth in 1973, the Tenth in 1978, the Eleventh in 1982, the Twelfth in 2002, the Thirteenth in 2006, the Fourteenth in 2010, the Fifteenth in 2013, and the Sixteenth in 2016.

Exchanging Valentines can be an awkward process, especially when you consider “Vinegar Valentines” and other snarky sentiments - whatever your tastes, enjoy the sweet and sour cards alike in this gallery! It is still the essential book for any student beginning a legal education, even though it is in its 17th edition. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. Now in its 17th edition, it is still the must-have book for every student embarking upon a law degree. First published in 1945, Glanville Williams: Learning the Law has been introducing students to the foundation skills needed to study law effectively for over 70 years. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). I read it as it looks good on a personal statement for university and it is essential to anyone wishing to study law.
