Loire Valley guru Pascal Jolivet inspired the talented Matt Day to make this wild-fermented, left-field Sauvignon Blanc from two complementary parcels on one of the oldest estates in South Africa’s Constantia Valley. Simple winemaking techniques are used to extract the best from grapes grown in expertly nurtured vineyards in the aim of making consistently excellent wines.

With bold fruit and a enjoyable minerality to it, we think it'll pair deliciously with a good seafood dish. Under the guidance of eternally youthful head winemaker Matt Day, Klein Constantia has been going from strength to strength in recent years.Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade. They are produced in very limited quantities, some only available in South Africa, but they are worth investigating, especially the single vineyard Perdeblokke bottling. We also produce limited volumes of Perdeblokke (a premium single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc), a Methode Cap Classique Brut, and a Chardonnay.

These are quite “hardcore” Sauvignons, some more commercial than others that can crank up that asparagus-like element. This full flavoured Cabernet Sauvignon is packed with juicy blackcurrant fruit with a hint of spice. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.There’s Marlborough’s tropical-fruit styles to the Loire’s elegant and grassy Sancerre – with plenty in between. Only first-class grapes were brought in for this wonderfully elegant single-varietal wine from Weingut Klein. Still youthful, intense and showing some tannic structure, it’s a superb, bone-dry expression of Constantia with notes of grapefruit pith, elderflower and wet stones.
