About this deal

Jane Tennison is leading a murder investigation into the recent brutal death of a young girl, her decomposed, starved body discovered in an old air raid shelter in the garden of the Lanark's now derelict house. In that time the company has produced a stunning slate of innovative dramas with proven success and enduring international appeal. The horror of the Covent Garden scenes are beautifully balanced with the humour of Jane’s issues with her flatmate’s inconsiderate TV and cooking habits! This is by no means a short book at over 400 pages but trust me you will have no problem turning each and every one of them and I for one am looking forward to see what Tennison faces next. I have on my audio books 174 titles, and I wish I could say they were all hers, but sadly not all available.

The fifth book in the Tennison series following Jane Tennison in the early years of her policing career. The final scenes are terrifying and tense as it becomes clear that the next bomb will strike at the heart of the police force itself (not a spoiler – it literally says this in the blurb! Blake Brooks, Brand and Marketing Manager at Bonnier Books UK, promised, “Lynda La Plante is writing at the top of her game, and Vanished is a masterclass. The bonus is that when I’m feeling frazzled with my uni reading I can read something really escapist or more gentle to offset the tension. In 2001 she co-produced The Warden (2001 TNT), starring Ally Sheedy, a variation of La Plante's series The Governor. That being said she has witnessed some dubious decisions by her superiors in the past so I can understand her need to ensure that every avenue has been checked and that the right person is being charged. In the same year she received the TV Spielfilm Award at the International Film and Television Festival Conference in Cologne, Germany, for her television adaptation of her novel Above Suspicion.

The heiress of an immense family fortune, she keeps the secret to the horror which once occurred within the Lanark family house. I needed this book for teaching and so after I purchased it, I asked if they could send me a few photos of some pages and they were more than accommodating. As with the previous books in the series, the 1970s setting is convincingly portrayed; as part of this, the reader is given an insight into some very dodgy 70s policing. If you haven’t started with ‘Tennison’, I’d really suggest you start there so you can enjoy Jane Tennison’s development as a character – it’s a journey you won’t want to miss.

The 30th Anniversary Edition: revised and updated for old and new fans of Lynda La Plante** One family. La Plante has written several other television dramas and mini-series, including Bella Mafia, Cold Blood, Cold Shoulder 2, Framed, and Seekers. The fourth in the bestselling Jane Tennison thrillers, MURDER MILE is set at the height of the 'Winter of Discontent'. After this turning point in her life, Lynda signed her first book-deal with Pan MacMillan, who helped her publish her very first novel, The Legacy, in 1987.I have lived in China for the past 2O years,so getting English novels is not easy, although found odd ones on the internet here. Her second, third and fourth novels came soon after – The Talisman (1987), Bella Mafia (1990) and Entwined (1993) – all of which became international best sellers.
