About this deal

You can also support us on Patreon and get ad-free access to the site, plus a ton of minis that helps support some of the best creators out there! They go together very easily and there are levels of dynamism and motion that leave almost all of the previous Primaris Space Marine kits in the dust.

Thirdly, each increment has arrows on its edge indicating exactly where your model stops depending on how far it can move and is designed to be lain in front of the model to illustrate exactly how movement functions in Warhammer 40,000. Not only does it include the same expanded haul of miniatures as the Elite Edition, but it provides you with a double-sided, fold-out gaming board and even brand-new scenery with which to populate your battlefield! The Recruit Edition is design to allow you and a friend the chance to dip your toes into the hobby and test out the game before moving on to more advanced products. These datasheets – as they’re referred to in Warhammer 40,000 – contain the stats and profiles for all the units in the set and a wee bit ( YOUR SCOTLAND IS SHOWING ;) – Editor) of fluff explaining what they are and what they do in their respective armies. I haven’t played about 7 years and yet after assembling the models I was able to work my way through the missions in the book, re-learning the game as I went. The bottom half is designed to be used in the missions within the Elite Manual, however, so don’t go chucking the box out right away!

Enter the thrilling world of tabletop gaming in the 41st Millennium with the Elite Edition – a set designed to introduce you to the Warhammer 40,000 hobby. which isn’t super helpful for someone who’s got interest and some painting experience but is not a seasoned veteran of tabletop wargaming. Range rulers and dice – These essential accessories cover you for movement, shooting, close combat and more. A heavyweight paper gaming mat, plus a gloss-finished cardboard tray that can be used to provide scenery for your first battles – transform any kitchen table into an appropriately grim, dark warscape!

As the light of the Golden Throne flickers on the brink of eternal damnation, in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only War! One thing that we both found a bit of a pain is that there are no wound tokens or trackers included in the set.

After the plastic has been decanted we have the card divider we’ve come to expect in Warhammer boxes. Are you considering picking one up to help fill the gaps in your own collection or maybe to fill out some squads? What’s more, by combining a Recruit and Elite Edition, you’ll get loads of units and two different types of Character too! In place of a Primaris Lieutenant and a Royal Warden, you get a Primaris Captain and a Necron Overlord, both representing senior ranks within their Faction. On more than one occasion, my wife remarked that she felt overwhelmed just looking at the stat-lines of the units on the placard, which was something I was a bit oblivious to having played similar games for a while. However you want to slice this one, the Space Marines are still slightly under the points/power level of the Necrons. I was able to repair it easily enough but it did make me question whether these are the best models for a beginner to be having a go at.
