As a general rule, cordless Dyson vacuums come with a wider array of attachments and have more powerful suction motors than comparable Shark alternatives.It has a larger storage bin than the cordless Dysons too so you certainly won't need to empty it anywhere near as often. They also love its lightweight design combined with a powerful suction which is good on tile and hardwood floorings. Unlike a more traditional cordless stick model like the Dyson V8, it's only intended for cleaning hard floors: the twin soft rollers in its omnidirectional floorhead can't dig into carpet fibers to lift away debris. This is due in part to its light weight, but also because of a pivoting ball on the cleaner head reminiscent of the full-size Dyson ball technology. On hard floors, without that softer brushroll, the v6 struggled with large debris, but it excelled at picking up fine particles.

However, despite the big gap in suction power on paper, there isn't much difference between the two regarding actual cleaning performance. Don’t take that as a negative, though: Mr Dyson is well-known for eye-catching, yet practical home appliances and the: “if it ‘ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach rings true here more than most.But if, like me, you expected more premium features – like anti hair wrap and a digital display – opt for the Dyson Gen5 Detect or the Shark Stratos in the top two positions. Extra: Similar to the Complete trim, but with added accessories like wand clips, worktop tools, and adjustable adapters.

On normal power, the v6 produced average suction, though less than both the Electrolux Ergorapido Power or the Shark Rocket on their default power settings. This isn't a must-have feature, but it can be very handy if you suffer from allergies and want a rough estimate of allergen quantities within your home.Like previous models, the Gen5 Detect has three power modes: ‘Auto,’ which intelligently adapts to different floor types, ‘Eco,’ which saves power, and ‘Boost,’ for intensive cleaning.
