About this deal

Hay that was left by a livery in the water overnight as i put too much hay out stunk by the morning and we threw it out. Is there a foolproof way of doing it where you can easily get the hay out of a container, drain the water off, without getting absolutely soaked and wrecking your back in the process?

Top Spec told me that it needs soaking for a minimum of 30 minutes to start to lose the sugars but preferably overnight. I think we've cracked it, one of the ponies started with a cough when the weather turned cold, it went on for a few weeks and we started soaking his haynets in a water butt for an hour or two then hanging them out to drain. I am slightly limited at my (DIY) yard, there is already a butt with a tap at the bottom but the butt is positioned sort of half under a hedge so that - in theory anyway - the water drains away into the field behind as there is no drain at this end of the yard but it makes access to it difficult. When Forest was having soaked hay I used once of those big buckets used for giving water in the field. Soaking’ is different to ‘wetting’ the hay to get rid of dust or ‘steaming’ which is a sterilizing process for horses with respiratory problems. It is my eager longing and hope that in no way will I be ashamed; instead, I hope that even now, as always, with all boldness Christ will be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death. After suffering a long time with a bad back and dreading lifting heavy wet haynets everyday, I finally invested in one and it has been the best investment!

I'm finding the whole thing so tedious and I'm constantly getting soaked through in this freezing weather, I then tried putting into nets first and then soaking but then when soaked they're so heavy I can't get them out without wrenching my back, I must be doing something wrong, there must be an easier way . The coughing chap is coughing no more, he snuffles into his banquet of sweet smelling warm hay with glee. This Dulux paint will usually only need one or two coats, and is ready to recoat after six hours, meaning you can easily complete a decent-sized painting project in under a day. we put the slices in hay nets and dunk them in a big tub and turn the hose on for a minute or two before carrying over to field to distribute.Hence make sure you are adding a high spec multi-mineral to ensure the horse gets his daily nutrient requirements. It has become known throughout the Praetorian Guard, and to everyone else, that my chains are in Christ, and many of the brothers and sisters have been made confident in the Lord by my chains.

If it's too heavy - just make sure not to put too many slices in and just give more haynets of 2 slices would make it much easier to haul out the water. While both can be used for most jobs, it’s always worth reading the tin to make sure the paint you’ve chosen is suitable for what you have in mind.

Always make sure you soak in loads of water ideally only 2 small nets per bath full, otherwise the concentration of sugars in the soaking water will be too high. You can give your Eazigrazer to your horse at this point if you like, but the hay will continue to drain just as a haynet would continue to drip. The chamomile has been dried thoroughly and carefully (most petals still in-tact) so it is intense and musty yet still sweet and honeyed.

We just tie filled haynets to hitching post, give a good soak through with hose and let them drain while you get on with mucking out/ the rest of yard duties and then hang them up before you leave when most of the water has drained out.It can be applied with either a paint brush or a foam roller, and getting a smooth surface with no streaks or drips is easy, even for beginners. The colour of the water is due to pigments leaching out of the hay and bears no relationship to the amount of sugar leached out. FWIW, our YOs have 6 horses that get stalled at night, and they don't SOAK the hay, they spray it a bit with a garden hose.
