About this deal

The Carbon Copy will take you from crisp bathroom slap echoes to epic, Gilmour-esque delays with a twist of a knob. The Carbon Copy will take you from crisp “bathroom” slap echoes to epic, Gilmour-esque delays with a twist of a knob. With a bright switch for more top-end (if you want the delays to cut through the mix) and a modulation switch which adds a chorusy tone to your repeats. Additional features include an expression jack for external control of various functions, programmable presets, and more. As a fan of analog tone, I’ve always loved the decaying repeats of a nice, warm analog delay but I’ve always felt let down by short delay times or overly-muddy tone.

Putting the CC between two buffered pedals helped as well in keeping the CC as my favourite analogue delay. With twice as much delay time and tap tempo functionality with four different subdivisions, you now have more control over your Carbon Copy repeats than ever. Featuring 600ms of delay time with optional modulation, and a three-knob layout that controls Delay, Mix, and Regen. In addition, the DM-2W has the ability to split the wet and dry signals and has expression pedal support for controlling delay time. Not only do you get those lush, analogue delay repeats but you also have plenty of control over how those repeats come out. Please give us the reason for your assessment in the following text box and – if possible – your e-mail address for further questions. Even true hardwire bypass effects stomp boxes (of which this is) still suffer losses from the added cables needed to wire them in. In the top left corner the MOD switch adds a small amount of modulation (a slight up and down pitch shift) to the delayed signal. This review will be about the MXR Carbon Copy and will represent my experience and subjective opinion about this wonderful delay pedal.

This switch adds a small amount of modulation (a slight up and down pitch shift) to the delayed signal. The Carbon Copy Analog Delay will take you from crisp bathroom slap echoes to epic, voluminous soundscapes with minimal adjustment required. Featuring an entirely analog audio path, it delivers a warm and rich delay through the use of bucket-brigade technology - that old-school vibe! Plug in your guitar, bass, synth, electric accordion or really anything else with an output, and step into the world of delay. On the tonal side, the Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay lets you choose between the original s dark, mellow wash and the vibrant articulation of the Bright version with the push of a switch. The Carbon Copy Mini offers a switch between the standard and bright settings, while the Carbon Copy Deluxe (my personal favourite) takes it one step further by adding a tap tempo switch and various other features to the mix. Flip the Regen and Mix to max, and fiddle with the delay knob a bit, and you've walked clean into noise-laden basement show bliss.

If you require a delay pedal for subtle ambience, the Carbon Copy won’t let you down, or if you use delay as the back bone of creating riffs the Carbon Copy will provide you with a lot to play with. It also has pretty sick self-oscillation going on, which always amazes me and never gets out of control!

Its rich bucket-brigade warmth, elegant simplicity, and healthy reserve of delay time have endeared it to guitar players around the world—weekend warriors and recording pros alike. On the tonal side, the Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay lets you choose between the original's dark, mellow wash and the vibrant articulation of the Bright version with the push of a switch. Thought the 'mod' button would be a bit of a gimic but having tried it I think it really adds something and I generally leave it on.
