The trackpad is roomy and even includes a fingerprint scanner to let you log in without typing your password via Windows Hello. Those results are better than the aforementioned rivals, and you’ll get this machine through a day of productivity unless you really push the hardware. It’s not as annoying as these programs sometimes are — I wasn’t bombarded with annoying Norton popups and Acer Jumpstart ads — but I did still have to uninstall a bunch of junk. While you can use this display for everyday workloads and watching media, nothing has much vibrancy, or nuance.

The Vero helps minimise landfill waste by using 40% PCR plastic in its body, plus the OceanGlass trackpad is made using plastic recovered from coastal waterways. The same proved true when I ran the GeekBench 5 test, the Vero just shading all the previous Core i7 integrated graphics machines that we’ve tested. There's a distinct lack of bass, but that's typical for affordable laptops, and the chassis doesn't vibrate as it sometimes does on the cheapest laptops and Chromebooks. The Aspire Vero pushes itself over the 5,000-point threshold, as do most of the other machines on the list. That's about average when compared to other 14-inch systems like the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i 14, though surprisingly heavier than the 14-inch Acer Spin 5 convertible.
