The expression is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks to create its fabulously sweet flavour. Aged for a minimum of eight years and carefully cultivated in two different yet distinct tropical climates means Equiano matures at a far faster rate than many other dark spirits, delivering a liquid that is like no other. ON THE NOSE
Like any quality premium rum, Equiano subtly delivers tropical warmth as soon as its aroma touches your nose. This expression blends molasses rum from the Caribbean with sugar cane juice rum from Africa to create this one-of-a-kind dram. Equiano Rum is the delicious result of a collaboration between two fabulous distilleries, marrying liquid from Barbados' Foursquare and Gray's Distillery of Mauritius.To taste it has a warm toffee and butterscotch mouth-feel, with chewy raisins and brown sugar flavours that emerge from the liquid as it caresses your tongue. The liquid is a limited batch blend from one of the best emerging distilleries in the world, Gray’s in Mauritius, and the world-renowned Barbadian distillery: Foursquare.

Once blended, the rum undergoes a second maturation in Spanish Oloroso casks, adding a huge depth of character. On the palate, it has a smooth and rich flavour, with notes of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a slight spiciness. A multi-award-winning premium aged rum, Equiano Rum is made by two distilleries in two continents, bringing the flavours each together for something truly unique. Rich, notes of dried fruits such as raisins and sultanas combine with sweet toffee, butterscotch and caramel culminating with a suggestion of orange peel, vanilla and buttered wood. There is a bright fruit character to the palate, supported by hints of liquorice, which is well-rounded and lingers on the finish.

Named after freedom fighter Olaudah Equiano, The Equiano Rum Co donate 5% of company profits to ground-level freedom and equality projects annually.Equiano starts its journey at Gray's distillery in Mauritius, where fresh molasses is barrelled for 10 years in a combination of French Limousin Oak and Cognac casks, giving the liquid complexity and depth of flavour.

It's then blended with award-winning rum from Foursquare, that has been barrelled in American White Oak, formally matured bourbon providing a one-of-a-kind naturally flavoured rum. The rum from Foursquare is aged in American white oak, while the liquid from Gray's is aged in French limousin oak and Cognac casks.

The Barbados rum is from Foursquare distillery and is aged for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks, while the Mauritian rum is from Gray’s distillery and is aged for 2 years in French oak casks.
