My journey as a chef is all thanks to two generations of women and this series is about honouring them as well as exploring Italy and local dishes from other families and their matriarchs along the way. It will always be the most special dish in the world to me because it’s the last dish that my mother cooked for me before she passed away.Celebrating the amazing women in all these families, Gino D'Acampo delivers 80 delicious Italian recipes inspired by the women in his life in his new book Gino's Italy. In a personal food odyssey, Gino will be travelling the length and breadth of Italy to encounter local dishes from families and their matriarchs along the way. Because it’s one of the only places where my family is all together [Gino and his wife, Jessica, share three children together, sons Luciano and Rocco and daughter Mia]. In this personal food odyssey, Gino will be travelling the length and breadth of Italy from Naples, Florence and Bologna to encounter local dishes from families and their matriarchs along the way. Starting in his place of birth, Torre Del Greco in Napoli, where he learnt to cook in the kitchens of his Nonna Flora and Mamma Alba, Gino is going back to his roots to celebrate all the women whose kitchens have fuelled Italy through their incredible food.

With recipes including Pasta all Genovese, Steak Fiorentine and Tortellini Gino will have his work cut out to keep up with the women running the kitchens which he visits.
