Their modularity has the drawback of compromising the structural integrity of the model overall, so you have to be very careful when moving it. The small interior spaces bother me a tiny bit, but I really like how much detail was included given the restrictions. The exterior is minimalistic in design but by no means basic, capturing a decent amount of detail from the version of 12 Grimmauld Place we saw on screen, whilst the darker colouring for the central house reflects the level of care that has gone into recreating the details that matter most to the outside appearance.

Inside, kids can share adventures with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Sirius Black, Nymphadora Tonks, Kreacher, Molly Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley and Kingsley Shacklebolt. That approach is continued through to the set’s interior, most notably in the Black family tree tapestry which has been very smartly recreated in true LEGO style across two large stickers. Grimmauld Place can also be used as an impressive display piece to sit alongside any other Harry Potter sets.

It doesn't totally capture the feel of the Ministry of Magic from the films, and the interiors are way too cramped. With bag 4, we continue with the ground floor, adding it for the houses numbered 11 and 13, while the interior behind still belongs to number 12.

Inside, kids can share adventures with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley™, Sirius Black™, Nymphadora Tonks™, Kreacher™, Molly Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley and Kingsley Shacklebolt™.

All three have their torsos printed on the back too, though much less detailed than what we saw on the front. Its sliding ability is the most interesting single thing to build out of either set, and it is fun to see that fully come together over the course of building the set. The phonebooth visitors' entrance doesn't make an appearance in Deathly Hallows, but is a fine inclusion anyway and allows for more Ministry of Magic scenes to be played out. Such consistency is effective and I like the black bands, resembling drainpipes, that separate these properties.

Inside, young explorers can embark on thrilling adventures alongside beloved characters such as Harry Potter™, Ron Weasley™, Sirius Black™, Nymphadora Tonks™, Kreacher™, Molly Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, and Kingsley Shacklebolt™. Offering the same balance between exterior display and interior play as any number of other LEGO Harry Potter sets, 76408 12 Grimmauld Place takes things to a new level with a smart and unexpected play feature that pays true homage to the books and films that inspired it. The top floor is a relatively empty hallway-type space; the set photos show Fred and George goofing off here or nearby. The stickered doors look nice, although these are actually opaque windows, instead of functional doors. The hairpiece chosen for Hermione's disguise, Mafalda Hopkirk, also it's right and the "bride" hairpiece should have been used as it's almost a prefect match apart from the front part going the wrong way.

This room also contains another instance of a set suggesting you pop something off to play with alongside the actual set, being the little stove build. This dark bluish grey sheet further distinguishes Kreacher from Dobby and seems accurately worn, including various scuffs and stains.

It made me wonder if the set is designed by Nick Vás, who tends to add frogs to his models (with the Chamber of Secrets set being a great example). But they look fine overall – and while they are not as rare as they used to be, it is still nice getting new versions of Fred and George. In the films, the Fountain of Magical Brethren is split into two sections: one of just the wizard, and the other containing the centaur, witch, goblin and house elf. We have to admit that we’re not hardcore fans of Harry Potter so we apologize that we won’t be able to identify most easter eggs here. As a brief comment on the build process and experience, The Ministry has quite a tedious and repetitive build, as if it wasn't obvious from looking at the set itself. Both of these scenes take place in their own massive rooms in the basement level of the Ministry, and there's no room to put minifigures with them anyway, so they feel quite shoehorned in. The good news is though even the theme and sub-theme growth are estimated at 9% and 7% respectively, making it a very steadily increasing investment. Two stickers are employed to great effect here and they capture extraordinary detail, since every character can actually be identified! Compare that to LEGO Star Wars which is 23 years running (without a seven-year hiatus) and the depth and breadth to which they have mined dozens of tie-in films, television shows and even expanded universes.
