You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Recommencing with the water analogy that characterized his debut disc, Porter saw Liquid Spirit as a logical progression in his burgeoning discography as it touched on some of the same themes, particularly the highs and lows of romance, his childhood, and socio-political observations.

Every detail in the bass, cymbal etc is presented and every hammer strike in the piano carries a meaningful emotion. We offer a range of machines in multiple configurations, and we’ll work closely with you to find the perfect fit for your business. Even if you're a dance aficionado you will have heard this track thanks to the excellent house reworking by Claptone which is also included on this Deluxe Edition. It won the best 2014 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album, and reached top 10 in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and the UK.Platinum in the UK and Germany, gold in France, the Netherlands and Austria, the album has sold over a million copies worldwide. There are a fair number of reviews that say this album is not as good as previous ones, but for me this is an all time classic. Each part gets a share of the gospel harmonies and your singers need to be on their toes with rhythm and timing. The Independent's Phil Johnson noted "The soulful vocalist follows his two excellent indie albums with a major-label debut that contains few surprises yet deepens the story so far".

John Fordham of The Guardian stated 'It's a better balanced Porter album than formerly, and as classily polished and confident as is usual from Blue Note. Liquid Spirit is a metaphor for water, when something is liquid it’s quick at hand so it’s like having that energy and that spirit and that soul accessible. Musicianship is excellent throughout, but I would like to have heard more improvisation and real Jazz - more of a live gig feel.I could go into details about the melancholy blues genius that is Water Under Bridges, the perfectly arranged cover of The In Crowd or the other 15 or so tracks (there are 19 presented) but all are just superb.

In fact this could be easier listening for anybody new to Gregory Porter, than the two previous albums.

Close your eyes and on a decent system this guy is right there with his band a few feet in front of you, delivering a pitch and note perfect performance with nowhere to hide. Movin'" also has some of the authentic Jazz of previous albums and "Liquid Spirit" is probably the most exciting track with its syncopated Double Bass line driving the band.
