Die Idee einer Stadt, die komplett in Dunkelheit liegt, und Wesen aus Schatten, die den Menschen im Kampf zur Seite stehen, fand ich total cool.Mir hat "Wächterin des Lichts" wirklich supergut gefallen, endlich mal wieder ein Fantasybuch, bei dem ich mitgefiebert habe und einfach Spaß hatte! She might be the hero that everyone's looking for, but to make matters worse, there is one person among the enemies who Mia doesn't expect. I love that this book joins the emerging trend of strong female characters as well as featuring lead characters who are POC. I also loved the characters that were deveoped a bit a quest like element in this story and the found family dynamics that we saw! But, although each urban fantasy author puts her own spin on these beings, they are all drawn from folklore.

I also liked how the main character did not nesscary want to have the flashy job and delt with fear thougout this read.

The author is careful not to stretch or break the rules, and explains the magic system in a detailed and easy-to-understand way. The concept of the umbra, the Reaper King, Nightmare Plains, and Spiritual Plains, were all things that I adored. She has always dreamed of being umbra tamer, but a terrifying encounter with a red eyed umbra out on the Nightmare Plains three years ago frightened her into staying within the city walls. The journey upon which Mia has embarked will challenge her deeply, but will also bring out the very best in her and her closest friends and family.
