The vibrancy of the Hong Kong neons, fiery explosions and computer graphics really pop against the wide color gamut of this HDR presentation. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. A personal favorite scene is Jake's speech just as the team is about to launch into Tokyo where the sun shines and bounces off the metallic parts of the uniforms, the Jaegers, the Shatterdome platform and glimmers off the clouds in the sky with such an amazing picturesque quality that it almost feels like a real photo from the set. Whilst the first movie pushed the boundaries of darker themes within its PG-13 core, Uprising retreats well within them and indeed Spaeny's teen contingent could have easily been a Transformers player instead (although the shots of her would need to be more uncomfortably heavily sexualised), replete with pet robot Jaeger which actually transforms, but thankfully this isn't a Bay movie, so the parallels soon deviate. But with an obsolete machine and an untested partner, can everything come together in tome to save humanity?

Just watched this again for the first time in like a year and woof, after so many very refined UHDs this looks lurid. Brightness levels are extraordinarily rich and luxurious with inky, oozing blacks that reveal superb gradational variances between the numerous shades, nicely separating the gear and straps from the rest of the uniforms. Although the release lazily doesn't even bother including the Blu-ray set's second disc of extras, it's still a stunning video and audio upgrade that remains one of the go-to demo discs for the format.I’m not usually a fan of all of these kind of tracks, but I do admit to watching this flick all over again while listening to this commentary and writing this review. DeKnight also deserves some credit for taking over and doing surprisingly well considering he's following up a proven visual master like Del Toro. Explore the huge sets and see how Jaeger cockpits and devastated Hong Kong streets were rendered and created. If you're a 'Pacific Rim' fan who has upgraded to an Ultra HD display with HDR capabilities, and have Dolby Atmos at home, this release is Must Own. Warner Bros has elected to only include the bonus materials that were on the original release's 2D Blu-ray.

These are good numbers and suggest high image quality without significant artifacts from starvation from inadequate bitrate (remember, video is always "lossy").True, it’s not based on a popular toy franchise, video game or a reboot of a time-told tried-and-true classic, but that’s a good thing! It's a 2 disc addition, obviously the first disc is the blu ray movie, the second contains the special features, which are also in blu ray (not like other blu rays where the extras are in normal DVD format). The next chapter in the fight against the apocalypse is more of the same without completely being a carbon-copy of its predecessor, littered with contrivances for bringing back hideously imaginative monstrosities from another dimension.
