I wanted to read this and as the proceeds are all going to good causes I felt good about reading it. I loved how Amy wrote of how close her immediate family are and how they can always cherish that and support each other.

I picked this book for another August 'Bookshelf Raiders' read because of the fact I am a mother, and I hold the belief that no one loves or knows you as a mother does. From one Mother to another, Amy you are a remarkable woman, and if at the end of my life I can look back with the pride and the memories you have with your family, I will be one happy woman! Amy struggles to understand why her daughter does the things she does and tries like any mother would to stand by her daughter even through some of the farcicle marriages she has been through. Her mother is a strong woman and I didn’t realise has undergone a lung transplant - I wish her all the best even though it is hard as she probably won’t recover but hope she can hang on longer now she has had the transplant. The fact the proceeds of the book are going to charity demonstrates her selfless trait of always considering others before herself.Amy gave a balanced and honest viewpoint of everything in both hers and Katie's life, which was refreshing to read.

It seemed to flit from blaming others, to accepting Kate makes the wrong choices but not knowing why, to not understanding why Kate does what she does. I can not even begin to imagine how anyone deals with the fact they know they are going to die and have to prepare for such events. Amy achieved a successful career while raising three children who all earned success in various fields; but for one, Katie, fame was part of the bargain. I've listened to the audio version of this over the last week and I've got to say the narrator is great. But submission is not a word in Amy’s vocabulary and so she refused to capitulate to her greatest challenge.
