About this deal

Overall, while this is still a well-performing flashlight, for most people I think the original LC90 is a better choice. I don’t regret the LC90 purchase but let’s put it this way, I had the LC40 and LC90 on the way out to take for anyone. I immediately observed that the impact resistance rating appeared to be out of compliance with the standard. Let me be perfectly clear: I do not recommend the LC90 for any kind of tactical, self-defense, law enforcement or military use. The on/off switch ensures convenient operation, and the presence of buttons allows for ease of control.

An adaptable combination of super-bright light with handy zoom and a full range of light modes in a durable, compact body. I suppose this could be beneficial for an extended power outage when you need light from sunset to sunrise and then can recharge during the day, so if that is your only intended use for this, the two-cell may just be the way to go.The same switch is also responsible for rotating sequentially through the five different modes: high, medium, low, strobe and a Morse code SOS. Both the LC-40 and LC-90 have a high, mid, and low brightness mode (VERY handy) as well as flashing and SOS modes. That old light was great I used it all the time and it was a great little to use for night photography. This means that even if a company is testing to the FL1 standard, it is reporting an 89% reduction in light output as part of its runtime.

The brightest setting on my iPhone XR’s flashlight is about 1/5 (or less) then the lowest setting on the LC90. The Anker Rechargeable Bolder LC90 LED Flashlight is bright and can light up my neighbors house at night and that house is over 500 feet away. Living in the middle of the countryside it gets very dark, so a strong torch was urgently needed and found. Also, I can’t tell but couldn’t you just swap the end caps where the power button is from one version to the other or are they different size? That doesn’t mean its a bad product, it could just mean I lack imagination, or the need, For me I have only 2 problems to solve (for the LC90 typical problem) which walking dog at night and surviving a power outage. The new LC40 is the “must have” for leaving the house, the LC130 is the “must have” for in the house, the LC90 original is a good general-purpose torch which didn’t really need doubling the battery life, after all you could just unscrew and swap the 18650, it did last all night anyway on its dimmest setting. If you leave the end terminal attached to the light you will find a micro-USB port for charging the device.
