The second I found out about this upcoming release from Kay, I knew I was going to love it and my god. Kay created Avery, the FMC, with insecurities that really hit home for me and because of that, I connected so deeply with the story and the FMC. FMC And MMC attended a birthday party for Cass together, and the FMC finds out from Cass about the birthday tradition.She thinks he’s going to propose – it’s not like she accidently found the ring in the drawer or anything – and is ready. We get to see her be this strong bad ass business women who is so confident in herself professional life but still struggles with her body image.

Avery has her own life and business issues that are brought up throughout the plot, and Finn has some of his own crazy ex drama that he deals with because she was an emotional abuser, but they both learn what a relationship with good communication, true trust, and real love, actually is. This all leads into my other issue, the bloated overuse of the women against women in Avery’s overall body confidence journey. I also really appreciated how Kay tended to avoid describing Averys body type in too much detail, allowing us to picture her however we wanted (or in my case, self insert my own body type).I love you so much, but, I… I really was going to ask… but seeing it…” His eyes lock on the ring choking my finger.
