While her stories are set within a much written about time period, the concepts with which she portrays them are so unique and wholly original.
A poignant love story… beautifully written and rich with emotion… It is a story about courage and sacrificial love that I found really beautiful and one I highly recommend. The story follows Margarete a young Jewish woman in WW2 who takes the identity of her employer's dead Nazi daughter to avoid prosecution and her relationship/connection with the son of the same family who is also an SS member. She was nothing but a dirty Jew, employed as a housemaid to undertake their every whim and every chore. The situations she finds herself in literally had the hairs at the back of my neck stand up and I was like a mother hen, constantly worrying about her safety. We celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, traditions and living cultures; and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.His elder brother Reiner is a high ranking officer in the SS who is faithful to the Furher and his cause. I really thought this was going to be an exciting piece of historical literature, but halfway through it turned into a trashy romance novel. This one is my least favorite of the Mitford books (at least the original nine), although I still adore it.
