About this deal

This book is a wonderful way to explore this sometimes secretive city, great for eitherhardened Londoners or first time visitors. As you approach the river’s edge, you’ll join the Thames Path National Trail, then turn right on Odessa Street. London's Hidden Walks Volume 4 is packed with interesting details about London’s history with both personal tales of those who wandered the same streets in former years and a more general social and economic history of the different areas covered. There is a wealth of history in the City of London much of which is, as the name of the walk suggests, hidden! Review: This is a great little guide to some interesting walks you can take around London with the aid of some A-Z maps.

Unfortunately for me, I would have preferred more of this extra information rather than the few snippets we get amongst the main directions of the walk. Featuring 20 walks in and around the city, including lesser-known circuits and details on popular walks. You’ll meander around and over the rivers and canals, passing posh high streets, historic pubs, manors and mansions. Each of the walks is interesting though and I do like how some places are mentioned where you can stop for refreshments.

Find the pedestrian underpass beside Tesco, near Redriff Road and pass the former red swing bridge to reach Greenland Dock. The guide is divided into six sections, each of which covers a particular geographic area of London. These are the best books of London walks I have found and, as a Londoner and a history teacher, I can't recommend them enough to anyone who wants a fascinating set of walks around different areas of London.Join the Thames Path as it passes Eel Pie Island, home of Ted Lasso fame and historic music legends. He was very entertaining, enthusiastic, interesting, knowledgeable, informative and full of fascinating facts and information. The guide begins with a small introduction and then presents you with twenty walks around the London area, each taking in a different aspect of London, and each with additional information about the walks themselves. I like these intros to the walks as there’s a lot of interesting information about the history of the area and why the walk is of interest to take.
