About this deal

Why you should buy this: As debut releases go, Durgin delivers an incredibly engaging read with a great cast of characters. He does them all justice and ultimately the entire story is lifted up even more because of that. This was a coming-of-age, small-town horror blast, one that I think a lot of people will really enjoy. In the small town of Newport mystery surrounds a killing that took place 20 years before when one of the town's own went on a killing spree, but things are not always what they seem as something evil lies within a lone grave out in the woods of the town. The next day, Todd feels funny and complains of a terrible headache that refuses to relent. He also hears a distant voice in his head, although he can't quite make out what it says to him. He also has terrible dreams of killing his friends, then he wakes to hear scratching on his wall, with the voice urging him to join her - it is definitely a female voice, after all - and to stop resisting. He sees a decaying woman at his bedroom window, with glowing eyes, urging him to come with her. The author has created a great cast of characters, full of the normal teenage angst and infighting. As a force takes over the town and everyone seems to be doomed, they grow into more heroic characters than they could ever have imagined. Changes Don't Spoil the Fun:The fun of this comes from experiencing everything first-hand. You should play a few games first before reading this! Surroundings change: In Novisor's presence, the surroundings of the Airship become twisted, with ink scattered on the walls and floor. Go to the location of your Among Us folder and copy the folder to an easily accessible location (such as the documents folder). I will say I appreciated the author giving these kids common sense. When the proverbial pewp hits the fan, the kids talk to parents/adults and seek help. Seems like in all the movies, the kids try and handle everything themselves (and pay for it with their lives) and never talk to someone who might could actually help them. It made this story seem more realistic and plausible. Well, to the extent a slasher can anyway. :)And one last note, the ending of this one had me crying. But no spoilers here as to why! I’ll let you discover that for yourselves. My Favorite Passages from The Cursed Among Us If you bought Among Us through Epic Games, open file explorer, navigate to Program Files, find Among Us. Recently, I had the pleasure of reading a short story of John’s in the ‘Beach Bodies: A Beach Vacation Horror Anthology.’ It was a really fun story and I was interested in seeing what John would be releasing in the future.

Immobilization: Whenever he chants the phrase “No-Visor, No-Visor, we will make you one of us!”, those who are around him will be unable to move for a time.He can be compared to either Herobrine, sonic.exe, Darkseid or Thanos since he is powerful like them and cannot be removed. EMIP files- unity assets files used for skin/texture mods. Created by editing the sharedassets files of the game. These are the files distributed as the mod files. Sharedasset files aren’t distributed because it’s considered as distributing game files/piracy. If you don't see this message you might be missing some cpp libs (software libraries used by the mod); please install Visual Studio C++ (Community edition). For texture mods, all users must install the same mod otherwise they will not see your modified textures.

Reading this one, I was super impressed to see just how much John’s prose had improved since the short story. I have no idea of the timeline around when what was written when, but the short story was good and the writing solid, but this was such a joy to read and see. I personally love seeing authors improve and I think this is a prime example of just that. That said, I did like the story. Howie, Cory, Todd, and Ryan were very realistic characters. I feel bad for all of them. Howie goes home to an abusive home life, Todd is anxiety riddled, Ryan has always been a target for bullying, and Cory is just the semi-weird kid pining after Bethany. Don’t even get me started on Bethany, though. We rarely see her and her entire purpose is to be Cory’s prize if he survives accidentally rereleasing a demon on the town. As far as characterization goes, it was interesting to see the group of friends be jealous of different aspects of each other’s lives. For example, Howie is jealous of Ryan for having really sweet and loving parents while poor Ryan is just desperately trying to make friends and keep them. I have seen this book described as a lot of things that I am usually not interested in reading. Coming of age. YA. Kids vs evil. Nostalgic? It is definitely not YA, despite the main characters being a group of teenagers. Yes, they unleash and then end up fighting an evil force. There are lots of references to bands and movies of my youth. Are the boys now reaching 40 and keeping their parents’ secrets? I can’t help but laugh when I think about the world I grew up in being considered retro. Apparently the 90s are in, because my own teenager has asked me what it was like growing up in the 90s on countless occasions. And I suppose it could be described as a coming of age story. But what a way to come of age. There is a lot for dark fiction fans to like in this one, and Durgin does a great job of creating this setting and using it to his advantage by making things go dark and darker when needed, but also infusing some hope and light moments to lessen the oncoming deluge. The Cursed Among Us is a horror novel with its heart in the right place—ready to be ripped out! Containing surprising and sometimes stunning emotional depth, this homage to ‘90s B-movies and supernatural documentaries explores the agony of growing up and holding onto friendships when the world seems determined to rip everything you love apart.” - Joseph Sale, author of Dark Hilarity The writing was enjoyable, if not a little too simplistic for me. I tend to enjoy really in-depth descriptions, which enable me to be able to envisage the settings and characters within my mind. It is all a matter of taste, as with everything else in life.
