About this deal

Converted to Test Bench 1.1. With this update, we've added a Mounting test and added information about Subwoofer Output, Spotify Connect, and Microphone Mute. Hard impact sounds hit with a little more unwanted politeness (rather than lovable brutality) than they do on the Q990B, and while the balance of sound is generally excellent, occasionally really bright trebles can sound a little too prominent. Seemingly because the smaller main soundbar doesn’t have quite as much counterpointing low-end grunt as the Q990B’s. Encapsulate yourself in cinematic surround sound …from the comfort of the armchair …with Samsung’s exceptional Q930B soundbar. Hear the audio move across its 9.1.4 channel speaker array, including a mighty wireless subwoofer, and rear speakers, for complete immersion. It enriches everything you watch (and your own music collection if you wish!). Tuned by the brand’s audio boffins at the Samsung Audio Lab in California, it ensures exceptionally balanced, space-filling sound. With 3D Object-based sound thanks to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X tech, you’ll hear the action unfolding all around you, it features dual-sided speakers for a wider sound stage, plus a dedicated centre speaker for clear dialogue at all times. You can stream music over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and with the Alexa voice assistant built-in, you can control it and get info, just by speaking. Converted to Test Bench 1.2. Updated the results for audio format support via ARC/eARC, HDMI In, and Optical. Added Video Passthrough to TV results as well.

use of the content you supply does not violate these Terms of Use and will not cause injury to any person or entity. The Q930B does make a pretty good on-paper case for its price, though. Not least with its provision of a genuine 9.1.4 channels of Dolby Atmos-friendly sound, which includes a substantial wireless subwoofer and two real rather than virtual rear speakers. This Q-Symphony soundbar has the ability to synchronise in perfect harmony with select compatible Samsung TVs. Playing superb quality sound simultaneously from both soundbar and TV heightens the viewing experience without any complicated set up. Q-Symphony is compatible with 2022 Samsung TV (BU8000 TV and above). Despite not sporting the Q990B’s Acoustic Lens, the Q930B’s subwoofer underpins the impressive dynamics of the main soundbar with ample amounts of deep but also impressively nimble bass. Precious few rival soundbar subwoofers can hit the same sort of depths without sounding forced, phutty or dislocated from the rest of the sound. At the same time, though, the Q930B’s sub doesn’t overwhelm the main soundbar, despite that soundbar being significantly smaller than the one provided with the Q990B.One of the features we found particularly interesting is Q-Symphony. If you have a 2022 Samsung TV by enabling the Q-Symphony feature, the sound will be played through the TV and bar speakers at the same time. The audio is reconfigured and the TV speakers act in conjunction with the bar speakers, giving a more direct sound that comes directly from the screen. For any content that you submit, you grant SAMSUNG a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully transferable right and license to use, copy, modify, delete in its entirety, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from and/or sell and/or distribute such content and/or incorporate such content into any form, medium or technology throughout the world without compensation to you. Vocals in a movie mix sound both clean and well contextualised, and the soundbar seems to gently lift them vertically so that they sound like they’re coming from the onscreen action. There are few aspects that we can criticize or miss. One of them is that it does not offer the ability to pass 4K signal at 120 Hz via HDMI, but is limited to 60 Hz. This should not be a problem for most people since they can connect the console or PC directly to the TV, however in this price range we believe that it could have been added. Another detail, is that in Spain, it does not come with the Alexa voice assistant integrated, something that in other countries it does support. The Q930B is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as you would expect, and even lets you connect recent Samsung Galaxy phones to it just by tapping them against the soundbar’s bodywork. The wireless capabilities have been extended, too, for 2022 to include wireless Dolby Atmos streaming from compatible Samsung TVs. Note, though, that the wireless Atmos system supports the compressed DD+ version of Dolby Atmos rather than the ‘lossless’ True HD version of Dolby Atmos you can get via eARC or the HDMI loopthrough.

Despite being slender enough to sit underneath most TV screens without obscuring any of the picture, the main soundbar manages to accommodate seven channels of sound: centre, front left, front right, front side left, front side right, and two more up-firing drivers. Based on this channel configuration, you won’t be surprised to learn that the Q930B supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding. The subwoofer isn’t quite as refined and nimble as the Q990B’s Acoustic Lens design either. It also has to do more heavy lifting to compensate for the reduced low-frequency support from the soundbar, which can leave peak trebles just occasionally sounding a little exposed. Ironically Samsung’s premium TVs do feature 4K/120 and VRR support, but don’t support the Dolby Vision HDR format. It’s hardly unusual, though, for different arms of a big electronics brand’s business to seemingly not be communicating with each other. Running the Q930B against its bigger Q990B brother inevitably reveals a few limitations in the cheaper model. It isn’t as brutally powerful, for one thing, meaning it can’t go as loud without sounding strained, and doesn’t deliver hard impact sounds with as much force and pressure. The net result of all the Q930B’s various changes creates a sense that Samsung has, for arguably the first time, properly thought through the Q930B as a proper surround sound step down from its flagship model. A decision which yields sound quality gold, as we’ll see later. An additional woofer has been added for the left, center and right channels, plus a side woofer on each rear speaker. Also, the subwoofer has been redesigned to provide more accurate bass. While dropping down to one HDMI input is a pity, there are plenty of soundbar rivals that don’t offer HDMI loopthrough at all, leaving you having to depend on the sometimes laggy ARC system for your main audio input.

The HW-Q930B features a metallic finish that gives a glimpse of some of the integrated speakers. We found this finish to be much better than the cloth finish that many Samsung models have had in the past. It is much easier to clean and is more durable if you have children at home. The look now has more pronounced polygonal shapes as we see on many Samsung models this year.In this new review, we are going to tell you about the Samsung HW-Q930B / Q910B one of the best sound bars on the market if you are looking to enjoy surround sound in your home. It is a model that has no less than 9.1.4 channels with a total of 17 speakers and supports Dolby Atmos sound both wired and wirelessly. The Q930B does not, though, get an extra calibration feature the Q990B does: Auto EQ. This continually monitors and tweaks the way the Q990B’s subwoofer sounds in relation to the rest of the soundstage, so hopefully we won’t find the Q930B’s bass element suffering too heavily from its absence. Ramp up the bass power and max out the thrill of cinematic sound. A wireless subwoofer adds low frequency power, depth and realism to everything you watch. And because it's wireless you have more placement options as it doesn’t need to be linked to the soundbar by a cable.

The Samsung HW-Q910B is an incredibly customizable soundbar with a wide array of sound enhancement tools available, especially compared to more budget-friendly models like the Samsung HW-Q67CB. If you prefer a different sound, you have standard bass and treble adjustments on hand, as well as a 7-band EQ that lets you switch up its performance across the range. You also find EQ presets like 'Standard', 'Surround Sound', 'Game', and 'Adaptive Sound'. You can access these features and others with the remote or the companion app. In our opinion, the Samsung HW-Q930B is one of the best soundbars we have tested for watching movies, as it achieves great definition in voices, powerful bass and a sound that surrounds you especially when the content is in Dolby Atmos. Thanks to the top speakers integrated into the bar and the rear speakers, you will be able to hear sounds also on the vertical axis. The Q930B is extremely easy to use. As soon as you’ve plugged in all of its components and switched the system on all the speakers automatically sync together, with no manual input required.
