Lily Mayne’s Monstrousseries starts here, with Soul Eater, the story of soldier Danny and the death monster who takes a shine to him. I actually did enjoy Wyn’s voice. I was really excited to see how it would be handled and I wasn’t disappointed. He does inject more emotion into it as the story goes on. So I was looking forward to hearing Edin’s big, booming voice. But he was just… a Russian guy? I don’t know, I thought I was a really bizarre choice. I never did get used to it, it pulled me out of the story every time he spoke. And several lines of Edin’s and Danny’s are spoken in Wyn’s voice. Personal Growth and Self-Reflection: Books often provide insights and lessons that can contribute to personal growth and self-reflection. They can inspire you to explore new ideas, challenge your beliefs, and reflect on your own life and choices. Reading self-help and motivational books can offer guidance and inspiration for personal development. Wyn (aka the Soul Eater) ✦ — This sweet sweet monster. He may be basically immortal, so powerful you can’t comprehend, and thousands of years old, but he is the cutest, sweetest, most beautiful, endearing, soft, perfect monster ever 🥺 (sorry for all those adjectives). He’s feared by everyone but he’s secretly has his own insecurities too. Wyn can kill someone with the snap of his fingers yet he acted so flustered and embarrassed around Danny and it had my heart warming.

Reader Preferences: Readers have different tastes and preferences when it comes to reading. Some people enjoy mysteries and thrillers, while others prefer self-help or biographies. By categorizing books, readers can easily find the genres that align with their interests and reading preferences. When I—along with my best friend and his big purple monster boyfriend—come across a fortress-like raider camp while journeying across the monster-infested Wastes, we stop to deliver a message. Wyn, the immortal powerful Soul Eater, who was at times insecure, and shy and Danny the sweet innocent military man, have won me all the way 😍😍. When I start guarding him in his cage every night, I begin to see the person beneath the agony that tortures his every waking moment. I begin to see who Seraph could have been if he hadn’t been twisted into this monstrous creature. If you’re looking for a new read (especially something to get you in the mood for spooky season), then I’d recommend it! Fancy giving it a read?

I was just a boy when the monsters rose on earth, forcing humans to flee to the coastlines and live in cramped, dirty, military-controlled cities. I enlisted as soon as I could to escape. You were the first human to treat me with something other than contempt or disgust.” My breath caught in my chest, and I went still as Wyn spoke. “I decided to give you a chance at survival.” What do you do when you come face-to-face with a death monster? The character development is very minimal. We do not know much about Danny or Wyn and they both just feel boring and empty, so their relationship also feels boring honestly. I couldn’t really get into it. Danny has no purpose in life, he wants nothing except to live, but again, he has no purpose. Wyn is more intriguing, but he still remains very bland. I loved him at first, he was scary and dark and intimidating, but then he turned out to be nice and kind and so human-like (I mean, he was insecure about his appearance big time, but he is an apex killer who murdered thousands of people and views humans as inferior beings!). I didn’t feel like it was a monster-human romance anymore because Wyn didn't feel like a monster... Except for the parts where his weird penis is described, that reminded me that he was not human... 😬

I had a vague idea for a dystopian world where monsters of all different kinds have risen and taken over huge areas of the earth, forcing humans to reside in cramped and dirty cities along the coasts. I was intrigued by the idea of a young soldier, aimless and already jaded from his short stint in the military, crossing paths with a terrifying monster and journeying through these barren, monster-infested lands together. Life as a raider in the Wastes, where monsters roam and the military lurks, is as easy as it sounds.

Michael Lesley

This is so dangerous. The military is lurking. Vicious monsters are lurking. And when Mary turns out to be even worse than we could have ever imagined, my desperate bid to save this monster turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. I know this book is not for everyone or everyone's taste but idc, it had steamy scenes, cute moments, violence and Edin. I have never seen anything like him. I have no idea where he came from, and what else is through that unsettling void—another world filled with soft-skinned, defenceless creatures like him? No tails, no horns, no claws, no sharp teeth. Tiny clothing, rounded ears, bright blue eyes. He is fascinating. And I want to keep him. Danny is cannon fodder, and he knows it. So when he’s sent out with others to ambush and capture the powerful Soul Eater, a monster that seemingly feeds on humans and leaves only empty husks in his wake, he’s more that surprised that the monster in question leaves him alive. His superiors forced him to meet Wyn (said Soul Eater) again and again, trying to find out more about him. Needless to say, Wyn is more powerful that he’s led them believe and he escapes with Danny. Relaxation and Stress Reduction: Reading can serve as a form of relaxation and escape from the stresses of daily life. Getting engrossed in a compelling story or immersing yourself in a different world through a book can help reduce stress, promote mindfulness, and provide a much-needed break from the demands of the day.

I’ve already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp. He can’t get to you. He can’t get to you. I had to chant it to myself in my head. I had to trust the reinforced glass, which was the only thing separating us. I thought I’d not be able to love a monster more than Moth, and then we have Seraph and I’m a puddle. When I realized he used to be human I had to put down my kindle for a while to think about it. He goes through so much and yet emerges such a strong and serene person. After seeing this series FINALLY got audio versions, I simply HAD to re-listen to it, especially as I had the niggling feeling that I didn't fully appreciate Wyn (and Danny) until later. On top of that, we have Michael Lesley narrating, and he's one of those who manage to give each and every character a very unique voice. He reminded me of Wesley from The Princess Bride, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he uttered those words; as you wish. I’m also going to try very hard to ignore how mindnumbingly beautiful he is, even when he’s scowling at me. Knowledge and Information: Books are an excellent source of knowledge, information, and ideas. Whether you’re reading non-fiction or fiction, books provide valuable insights, facts, perspectives, and experiences that can broaden your understanding of the world, various subjects, and different cultures. The Monstrous series by Lily Mayne is probably my favorite mm series to date. Lily is an amazing author and she really knows how to yank at your heart strings and make you fall for her characters even if you don’t think you will. I have been eagerly anticipating this audiobook, and when I found out it was Michael Leslie doing the voice acting I was ecstatic! Lily’s Monstrous world was made for Michael.
