The body depicts the Ford Escort as a customized street version of the WRC car, and is based upon the TT-02 chassis. The actual car was powered by an inline-4 2-liter engine offering 300PS and 50Kgm of torque.

The Mk.II was produced from 1975 to 1980, a front-engine, rear-wheel drive car with a classic boxy body.Based upon the versatile MF-01X chassis, it will provide plenty of fun on both road and dirt surfaces. Power from the rear mounted motor is transmitted by gear differential to the rear wheels, and via a propeller shaft to the front. The chassis can be converted to S and M wheelbases with separately sold propeller shafts.

Now, this rally legend is recreated in an R/C model assembly kit, with a polycarbonate body accurately capturing the ageless style. Rally cars are always an exciting subject, accomplished both on asphalt and flat dirt, and Tamiya is delighted to announce the addition of another to our R/C stable: the Ford Escort Mk.II Rally, depicting a car which was RAC Rally champion from 1975-1979. Fittingly, it is based upon the MF-01X chassis, which has dedicated rally parts and is at home on a range of surfaces. Dish-type wheels (previously used on Item 58257, etc.) are moulded in white ABS plastic, and paired with treaded Street tyres.It features a rear-mounted motor, with gear-driven rear wheels and a propeller shaft taking power to the front. Both front and rear gearboxes have differential gears. This chassis features highly capable 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension, with friction dampers front and rear. Required for completion; 2 Channel Radio System, 1 Servo, Battery and Charger, Polycarbonate Paint for the Body, Tools for assembly. A slimline three-piece monocoque forms the centerpiece of the MF-01X chassis, and the propeller shaft is positioned to the right.
