Description

Although decoupling mats are waterproof on the surface, water can still get into the ground at the joints. Therefore, an appropriate sealing of the latter is necessary. Usually sealing tapes are used to prevent the penetration of moisture under the tiles. Step 5: Laying tiles Schluter Ditra matting should be used primarily as a waterproofing layer when installing cover materials that are sensitive to moisture (e.g. natural stone or synthetic resin panels) or if moisture is expected to build up on the underside (e.g. in the case of green screed). When Ditra matting is installed in exterior applications, special protective measures may be required; e.g. shielding the installation from direct sunlight. The use of rapid setting thin-bed adhesives may be an advantage for certain projects. Our extensive selection of decoupling membranes is engineered to elevate your tiling installations. These innovative solutions enhance durability, stability, and long-term performance, ensuring that your tile work stands the test of time. Place Proband 150 Sealing Tape on the Proband KOLL, following the joint. Apply strong pressure and smooth the sealing tape to ensure the adhesion, preventing creases. Ditra matting should only ever go fleece side down. Apply the matting to the floor, fleece side down. Work the Ditra into the mortar, using a float or screed trowel in such a way that the fleece of the Ditra is solidly embedded in the bonding mortar throughout its entire surface (please observe the open time of the bonding mortar).

Make sure that the substrate you're fixing the matting to is clean. The substrate must be free of bond inhibiting components, be load bearing and be even. Any unevenness in the substrate must be levelled prior to the application of Ditra matting. Allow it at least twenty minutes to dry, and then wipe the tile surfaces with a damp sponge or mop to remove excess grout. Give the grout another two hours to set, and then buff your floor with a cheesecloth to remove debris. In about 72 hours, it will be dry and ready to seal and finish. Laying Tile on Concrete With a Cement Board A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. Both types of decoupling membrane are available in a range of materials, including polyethylene, polypropylene, and rubber, each with its own unique properties and benefits. When choosing a decoupling membrane, it’s important to consider the type of flooring system you’re installing, as well as the specific requirements of your project, such as insulation, sound reduction, and load-bearing capacity. Apply Proband KOLL / Proband KOLL AB Adhesive along the joint between two adjacent runs of Prodeso Decoupling Membrane with the flat side of the notched trowel, for a width of about 200mm. Take care to fill the cavities of the membrane and to leave a thin layer of adhesive on top of the reliefs. Ensure you follow all manufacturer installation instructions for the adhesive used and all applicable industry standards. Use DITRA for ceramic tile installations over single layer plywood or OSB subfloors on joists spaced up to 19.2" o.c. Textile mats in particular, such as a PCI decoupling mat, are characterised by improved footfall sound insulation. While other systems, such as Schlüter Ditra decoupling mats, are universally applicable at all, as they combine multifunctional properties in one product with decoupling, sealing, vapour pressure compensation and drainage. How are decoupling mats installed?

Tile Giant is your premier source for professional-grade tile decoupling membranes, featuring trusted brands like Durabase and Schluter. Our range is meticulously designed to meet the exacting standards of professional fitters. We understand that the foundation of every successful tile project lies in meticulous attention to detail. Schluter Ditra matting must be separated at existing movement joints. Movement joints must be continued in the tile covering, as specified by the applicable industry standards. In all other cases, large area floor assemblies installed over Ditra matting must be subdivided into smaller fields with the help of movement joints. The distance between such control joints in exterior applications (balconies and terraces) should not exceed three metres. Depending on the construction of the substrate, field sizes may need to be smaller. Significantly reduced labour time and costs: Minimal preparation (above) with no residue remover, tools or adhesive required to bond down the mat. DITRA-XL is ideal for installations requiring greater movement accommodation, such as applications using natural stone tile, large-format tile, etc. Various manufacturers offer decoupling mats in various designs and materials. Most common are products made of plastic, rigid foam or textile fibres, which are usually available as yard ware on rolls in specialist tile shops or DIY stores.
