Even though the version number of the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 is higher, it will still come with significantly less range than the Pro 2, and less performance overall, most notably climbing power, even though the motor power should be the same on paper. The Xiaomi 3 seems to have been made less performant on purpose so it will be street-legal internationally. Most of the other specs will be comparable or identical. The Xiaomi Pro 2 is water-resistant, but not entirely waterproof. That means it can withstand some riding in the rain, although it should never be submerged in water. Testing electric scooters is the fun part of our job because we get to ride around our cities and get a bit of fresh air and sunshine. We don't always go for a joyride, however. The 4 Pro can support a maximum weight of 120 kg, while the Pro 2 has a maximum weight capacity of 100 kg. It’s a fairly basic app but one that gives all of the essential read-outs on battery levels and distance travelled, while dealing with firmware updates with minimal fuss. There are ways to customize the firmware of the Pro 2 and tweak it to perform in the way you want it to. You should know that this process may damage your scooter and void your warranty. As you’d expect, the Xiaomi Pro 2 has many of the same features as its predecessor, including motor power (300W), battery size and range (446Wh, 28 miles), maximum speed (15.5mph) and maximum rider weight of 100kg.
Like many other e-scooters on the market, there are also several riding modes that can be cycled through, which basically limit the top speed. A pedestrian mode is essentially a slow crawl and is suitable for built up or busy areas, while a standard ‘D’ mode allows most of the power and a full fat Sports (or ’S’) mode unleashes all of the watts. The jury has been out on this one for a number of years now – Xiaomi is simply the best electric scooter brand in the world.

A range of up to 28 miles on one charge is perfect for those who are always on the move, the brakes are superb, and you’ll always feel as though you’re in control. A top-notch braking system is very, very important for your safety. Some of the best e-scooters have a simple braking system while a few of the more robust ones come with a dual one, which is much more reliable and safer for riders. That's especially if you live in a hilly area. Safety features include front and rear LED lights, reflectors, and electric E-ABS brakes on the front wheel, along with double disc brakes on the rear wheel.
The scooter does not come with a frame for a seat, but some users have chosen to install one on their own, and the operation is seemingly not that complicated and usually works out well. Personally, I would recommend adding the seat only if you think you must have it, as it messes with the structural integrity of the scooter.The Pro 2 also made the transition from road to path to grass very easily, which is something to consider if you’ll be using it for all-terrain purposes. And battery life seems pretty good. While I didn’t ride it for long enough to test how far I could have travelled on one charge, four separate rides covering 14 miles still left me with plenty of battery life, with half my time testing in Drive Mode.

Xiaomi has equipped its Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 with a powerful, 300 W motor. For most rides, however, you’re likely to want to be in Drive or Sports mode, simply because they deliver superior acceleration, more speed and the power you need to climb hills. I found that even in Drive mode the Pro 2 struggled to pull my 80kg frame up steep hills, especially on cold days. Interestingly, the Max climbs a bit worse at 11°, and that’s likely because of its bigger weight of 19 kg / 42 lbs, which is about 5 kg / 10 lbs more than the Pro 2. That is not a trivial difference in weight, and for many, that will be too much to carry (plus, the Max takes up more space as well).The ride quality is one aspect where the Pro 2 has provided a lot of improvement. Because of the new and improved tires, the scooter provides a more stable, more confident ride, while reducing the risk of flats at the same time, which is quite difficult to achieve. Turning and cornering are well-balanced, and the overall control and balance of the scooter are very friendly to beginners, including first-time riders. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro is equipped with 10-inch self-sealing tubeless tires, while the Pro 2 has 8.5-inch chamber tires. The larger wheel size of the 4 Pro offers greater driving stability and makes it easier to overcome obstacles. A longer press on the power button turns the scooter on or off. When the scooter is on, a short press turns the lights on or off.
