About this deal

Noni crafts a vividly textured narrative landscape with an irresistible cast of loveable and love-to-hate characters. The perfect balance of humour, heart and high stakes makes the Medoran Chronicles a reader’s delight.” — Rachael Craw, award-winning author of the Spark trilogy There was never a dull moment in this book, it was every bit as exciting, addictive and enthralling as Akarnae, with so much additional wonder and awe! It was so amazing reading about the worlds within Medora and all of their features, such as when Alex and her friends find their way into Meya, such a dazzling and breathtaking city! It’s here where our heroes make the acquaintance of some new faces, my favourite being Roka – who indeed is the brother of the villainous Aven! Where Aven is definitely devilishly charming and frankly terrifying (but truly one of my new favourite villains, Roka is inquisitive and curious and caring, truly wanting Alex and her friends to be safe, but knowing that Alex is connected to Aven in ways, and Alex knowing Aven’s plans to reclaim the throne of Meya, just wow!). There was not one moment where I didn’t feel on edge throughout this! Emerging dream-weaver Lynette Noni offers a fresh approach to the popular YA fantasy genre. With a recent YA focus on brutal dystopias, this narrative is full of youthful surprise yet offers difficult physical challenges, emotional consequences and magical foundations alongside a protagonist who has to work hard to realise her inner strengths. Adolescents embarking on their own overwhelming transitions – starting high school, completing studies or entering the work force – will easily relate to Alex and the tough decisions she has to make. In the 'About the Author' bit it says that Lynette Noni is a huge fan of Harry Potter and Narnia and it shows in this book. I mean, a magical school that the protagonist attends after stepping through a door into another world?? Practically screams both series. However, this book totally managed to stand on its own. The world felt incredibly vivid to me and I can picture all the different places clearly in my head. And guys, it's gorgeous. Alex is such a fantastic protagonist. She falls into this world of magic and takes it all in her stride, going along with it, and copping crap from her new BFFs, Jordan and Bear, whenever she starts to take the magic stuff too seriously. This is a book that's not afraid to poke fun at itself.

Once again Lynette Noni's writing is a mixture of sass and humour. The series is perfect for non fantasy reader such as myself as it offers a lighter take on the genre, making it easy for young teens to engage with and relate to it's well written and depth of characters. The series had me laughing at points, crying at others, and immediately after finishing the last book i HAD to start the series again and I've listened to it multiple times since. The main character is 16, but it reads like middle grade (so at least it's fine to recommend to those 10-11 year old girls??) This book wasn't as intoxicating as the first book but it provided a solid continuation to the storyline, which I really enjoyed. The introduction of Meya and the other Meyarins brings another aspect of this world to light and further adds to the intrigue of this place Alex now feels a strong connection with.

An avatar of himself guides Alex through the Library's images of a possible future. By doing this, Alex realizes that she has feelings for Kaiden as her mind feels safe with him; even more so than some of her close friends. Kaiden remarks that his avatar isn't really him and that Alex's subconscious created him. I did find some parts predictable but still very enjoyable. I really can't wait for the next book in this trilogy. I'm already having character and world withdrawals. I wish I had a bubble door that could send me to Medora! Kaiden takes part in Epsilon combat class like Alex. Declan and himself were the first two who were friendly to her when she first arrived. He then consistently pops-up throughout the series. He is then yet again in Alex's class in Stealth and Subterfuge, along with Declan, Jordan, Blink, Pip, Skyla and. Kaiden is Alex's love interest throughout the series. During Vardesia, they start dating. She believes that she has it easy but he tells her that in fact, she has scored remarkably well in her test and Jordan tells her that many people can only dream of being and Epsilon in anything. This concludes my nonsensical babbling inspired by my love of this series which is only growing stronger with re-reads. For sense, please read my original review, below.

When will my order arrive?

chemistry, society and culture, Species distinction, Core skills (supernatural giftedness by the way), medical science, history, etc. With all the high tech, I wasn't sure where archery and equestrian skills came in, but the rest made sense. Then there is a boarding school that’s basically a castle (ahem, Harry Potter) and this, again, could’ve been fun to read if the world wasn’t confusing me with the tech-y stuff that contradicted the good ol’ setting or combat training. Not only this, Alice meets these two boys who, again, are not bothered much about how or why this random teenager is in their world. But the peak for me to leave this book unfinished would be the writing—maybe it’s my personal preference but I need more descriptions especially if this world has so many things incorporated in it, but the writing came across as bland and a little too ‘telling’. Anyway, I’m well aware that I’m in the minority here so feel free to give this a shot and see if it’s something for you, because I can’t recommend something I didn’t even finish reading. This is a tough one for me to review because I really wanted to like it more than I did. I had to wait a while, to let it sink in and let my thoughts about it marinade a bit. The adventures are fun, the story well mapped out, the main character is engaging. I enjoyed the actual reading experience, for the most part, quite a bit, but I have to admit I had some eye rolling moments and put it down a few times to take a break. The actual reading experience was probably 4* for the most part, but the small frustrations accumulated and bugged the edges of my brain whenever I was not actually reading, when I was thinking about it. Draekora” is the third novel in the “Medoran Chronicles” series, which was released in the year 2017. Aven Dalmarta hides in the shadows of Meya, and Alex desperately wants to save Jordan and keep the Rebel Prince from killing more people.

I loved so many characters in the book, Jordan and Bear were both funny and friends that i would love to have. From the moment we meet them in the story they were the kind of characters that everyone would love to have in there friend circles. I loved Alex's and D.C relationship in the book because i knew that they would become friends by the end of the first book, they both grew and i'm glad that they became friends by the end of the book. All of the teachers were all good characters to i enjoyed them very much, the doctor fletcher was a character i honestly wouldn't see in the school because he seems so cool.Kaiden is present and surprises Alex by asking her about her trip to the past - something he wasn't supposed to know about. Later, when Alex discovers that he is Master Athora's protégé, he explains how his gift enabled him to know that. I don’t hate Bear and Jordan I just don’t find them interesting, or interesting enough to care about. They explain their technology as scientific but they do not have an IT-person who can fix the problems with the machines. Instead, the teachers have to fix the issues. The friends also only use their gift twice during the book. I would have liked them to someone be intertwined to the climax.

Alex spends her nights deep in the Library under the guidance of her new and mysterious mentor. Alex is desperate to strengthen her gift as well as protect those she loves. Because being in a world where nothing is for certain, she can only be sure of just one thing: Aven is coming. The entire series is one of my favorite young adult fantasy series ever, the books aren't stand alone so starting here with the first book is wise. Its not quite right for the youngest listeners(there is a little bit of violence and war in this series) but its a series that would fit well as a family listen on a long road-trips or as a Sunday activity. I would have liked a little bit more work done on the characters, I feel like Bear and Jordan could be a little difficult to distinguish from one another, and it was predictable at times, but other than that I have no complaints. I thought this was an awesome book and finished it in less than 24 hours. It's even more amazing because this is Lynette Noni's debut novel, so her writing and characterisation can only go up from here! Hopefully... There are 2 dorm buildings. The Sir Carsus dorm is where most students stay and hold first- to fifth-year students. There is also the Lady Omar dorm, where all of the Apprentices stay. Each Dormitory has 2 students inside. They each have their own bed, dresser and bathroom.I miss the library! It was such am amazing concept and it had so much potential, but in this book it is just a convenient way for Alex and her posse to get to places she could not get to otherwise. Like Raelia/fairyland or Meya. Sulk. Hmm. A YA Fantasy novel set at a boarding school for 'gifted' kids. Where have I read this plot before??!
