Dalāʼil al-khayrāt wa-shawāriq al-anwār fī dhikr al-ṣalāt ʻalá al-Nabī al-mukhtār ( Arabic: دلائل الخيرات وشوارق الأنوار في ذكر الصلاة على النبي المختار, lit.'Waymarks of Benefits and the Brilliant Burst of Lights in the Remembrance of Blessings on the Chosen Prophet'), usually shortened to Dala'il al-Khayrat, is a famous collection of prayers for the Islamic prophet Muhammad, which was written by the Moroccan Shadhili scholar Muhammad al-Jazuli (died 1465 AD). It is popular in parts of the Islamic world amongst traditional Muslims—specifically North Africa, the Levant, Turkey, the Caucasus and South Asia—and is divided into sections for daily recitation.

The legend behind the origin of the Dala’il al-Khayrat is that al-Jazuli once awoke late for his morning prayers and began to look in vain for pure water to perform ritual ablutions. In the midst of his search al-Jazuli encountered a young girl who was aware of al-Jazuli's famed religiosity and was bewildered on why al-Jazuli could not find pure water. The girl then spat into a well which miraculously overflowed with pure sweet water for al-Jazuli to perform ablutions. Consequent to performing prayer, al-Jazuli inquired to the means by which the girl achieved such a high spiritual station. The girl replied it was simply by "Making constant prayer for God to bless the best of creation by the number of breaths and heartbeats." Al-Jazuli then resolved to write a work collecting litanies of prayers asking God to bless and show mercy and kindness to Muhammad. the main body of the text containing the prayers on the Prophet ﷺ, which are nowadays divided into eight Ahzab, portions which are linked to eight successive days (Monday-Monday)He emphasised personal discipline and refinement of the ego. As a spiritual master, he required his students to adopt the patched cloak and staff. They were required to fast, practice solitary devotion and adhere to his methods of discipline. You’re going to have some of his qualities ﷺ poured in your heart directly from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala because you turned to Rasulallah ﷺ. You’re mentioning his name. One of the most significant moments in his life was his meeting with the great scholar and Sufi from Fes, Shaykh Ahmad Zarruq (d. 1493). Imam al-Jazuli passed away in his Fajr prayer, in the second prostration of the first rak’ah, may Allah be pleased with him. Sources differ about the year of his death, with several dates between 1465 and 1470 being given. One source puts it at 16 th Rabi al-Awwal 870/1465. It has been related that he had been poisoned which led to his demise. Sayyidi Mahdi al-Fasi said, “Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli was upon the greatest rank of the Truthful Ones (Siddiqiyyat ul- Uzma) and he was also a martyr due to the poisoning”.
