About this deal

Looking for an efficient water purifier but don’t want extra weight or bulk? Good news: GRAYL just slimmed down its eponymous water filter bottle into an ultralight option.

Compact and ridiculously easy-to-use requires zero setup and makes clean purified drinking water in 10 seconds (3L/min). Testing standards: independently tested by a certified laboratory to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI protocol 42 and 53 for pathogen and chemical removal; meets the the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Guide Standard and Protocol for testing microbiological water purifiers They’re also members of The Conservation Alliance, All Hands and Hearts, charity: water and are supporters of many more groups and organisations. One of the real gems here is the GRAYL press-to-purify technology. It makes filtering water super fast and easy. All you have to do is pull the inner core/filter out of the cup.RiverFlow™spoutdelivers a fast-flow of clean drinking water for chugging, filling hydration reservoirs and other bottles. Even if you don’t use the Grayl UltraPress regularly, you should still change the filter after three years, when it reaches the end of its shelf life. Using the filter after this time may prove ineffective. All of the water from the outer cup has passed through the filter and is now inside the inner core. Open that top cap and enjoy. Paracord D-Ring (Photo/Josh Kirchner) The activated carbon absorbs chemicals, heavy metals, flavours and odours to ensure your water is safe and tastes fresh! Ultra-powdered activated carbonfiltersparticulates (sediment, microplastics) and adsorbs many chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, VOCs, flavors and odors.

Heat it up! Utilizing the butterfly handles, the Outer Ti Cup can be used to heat water and cook food alongside hot coals or near a direct flame. Can also be used with the Grayl titanium camp stove. My first gripe about the UltraPress came on a morning I wanted to use the outer cup on a stove to boil water. I never got to that point because the outer cup didn’t fit on any of the stoves in our camp. It’s just too narrow.Overall, the size and weight of the Grayl UltraPress are slightly off-putting but the advantages of the bottle outweigh this slight nuisance! Materials:Made from BPA-FREE polypropylene #5, food-grade silicone, TPE and ABS food-grade plastic. Paracord D-ring loop for filling in precarious situations (foot bridges, whitewater, canyoneering, etc).

Although the UltraPress requires a bit of oomph to use, it’s not at all complicated. The simplicity and speed at which you can get clean water makes the effort worth it! Aside from filter changes, you should clean the UltraPress after every time you use it. Cleaning involves performing a “dry press”– pressing the purifier into the empty bottle and getting rid of any excess water. Leave the filter for up to 4 days to dry thoroughly, which will prevent a buildup of odors and mildew while the filter is in storage. By buying any Grayl product, you’re giving your money to a company that cares about our planet and its people. I found that with the Ultralight, after a while the press became very difficult to press, especially with the sort of awkward design of the lid. Grayl made an improvement here in a big way. The UltraPress cap is wider so your palms can use a flat pad to press down without the top lid digging into your hand. For context, I had the cap on, and I opened it half a turn to vent air. I was using the filter press on a surface about hip-high. It may have been faster if I had pressed down on the ground. So filter times may vary depending on your method.

Testing the GRAYL Geopress vs. Ultrapress

You can’t really ‘extend’ the lifespan of your Grayl filters but you can make sure they reach the150L mark before they need to be replaced. These top tips will help you get the most out of your filters and apply for any water bottle with a filter, not just Grayl bottles! Award winning OnePress® global protection is effective on all 7 continents and empowers adventurers and travelers to drink from the world’s sketchiest freshwater sources. Simply — Fill. Press. Drink.® The electro-adsorptive media acts like a magnet to pull pathogens and other contaminants out of the water. The process of adsorption, not to be confused with absorption, involves these pathogens and contaminants becoming permanently bonded to the adsorptive media and removed from your water. Grayl purifiers rely on multiple layers of filtration technology!
