About this deal

Put these against my penns I own only one is on a par with it for longevity and robustness thats he aerlex gtr Not experianced any problems yet, shim tech line on mine, but line guard is basically spool lip running on rubber seal, could be a weak point. A nice smooth reel that looks ok, but can’t be compared to long standing proven reels... of which I can only actually think of 4, that’s really 2 but both available in 2 sizes. Only thing I don't like about the affinity II's is the way the handle folds. Fine in the warmer months but it seizes up a bit in the winter. Given the two small retaining screws holding the reel handles on, I can't imagine it's much effort to pop these off. You'd just have to find the correct bore wooden handle and maybe centre spindle bit.

These are gona keep selling and selling and the price you pay new on them its gona have an effect on the second-hand reel market Really? God knows what people were doing to bend the shafts on the mk1, I found them strong as anything and had cats to over 60"lb on them with no damage The new way of thinking seems to be that big spools are not as fundamental for big casts as we first thought, and line diameter is more relevant. I may be wrong though

I've used the Affinity 8000's from the day they was available via the trade, and they have been faultless Anybody know where to get some folding complete handles for these reels, love the ss3000 ones Prutser has on his, just wondering where to get some from? I think a nice Penn emblem on one side would have set it off , just like reels from yesteryear Abu now that was a nice emblem

Perhaps you are a little heavy handed if you don't mind me saying? Also, the emcast is notoriously crap and sal****er use doesn't really relate to this topic as its a carp fishing forum. Also I have a good collection of reels , Shimano , Diawa ect , some top end and also the work horses described .You are paying purely for a name. Ok some shims and daiwas are maybe worth the price tag thos for blue water fishing maybe stellas and the daiwa equivalent but the average stuff we use is just overpriced beach gear i cant wait to see those pics Jon ..............if it were me id put my faith in the shimano big blue It amazes me that when the affinity's first came about there was doubters and slaters, now everybody is raving, even a few that previously doubted.... The latest addition to this popular range, offering you the very best in build quality and materials . A big pit large capacity design allowing you to cast and fish at serious distances. Built to cope with the demands of modern day carp fishing, incorporating the reliable HT-100 full carbon drag system and a ultra strong titanium mainshaft. Further weight savings have been made with lightweight machined aluminium carbon spools and even a custom carbon carbon handle grip. Additional nice touches include two line clips allowing you to clip up to and accurately fish different spots at different distances.

What is the casting ability like with a 7000? The spools look slightly smaller than my current reels.I would say the 8000 penn would compare better to the 6000 tourny, imo the 7000 penn is a nice size general carp reel probably more comparable to a 5000 tourny size wise someone once told me to put a small drop of gun oil regularly onto the line roller to help with this what u think A company renowned in the game fishing world for producing outstanding reels that can withstand the test of time, this is Penn’s first foray into the carp fishing arena. Penn has used all its game fishing experience to design this big pit distance casting machine. Not seen tourney 6000s in the flesh, but id be surprised if they were as big as the 8000 penn. They are massive. The 7000 is more a standard sized big pit
