About this deal

The modern game is still played and enjoyed by families, using any basic Rounders set they can find. There are two umpires in an official game of rounders. One is the batting umpire and one is the bowling umpire. The batter's umpire should stand level with the batsman inside the batting square. They should be able to see the 1st post without a need to turn their head. The bowler's umpire needs to be able to see all of the playing area, and it is considered to be one of the most complex roles in rounders. Our rounders resources have been created to increase your confidence, skills and knowledge of the sport, and elevate your KS2 PE lessons. Let's take a look at what you can expect from the rounders scheme of work:

The fielding team must field a minimum of six players (one on each base plus bowler and catcher). The total number of players on a team is limited to nine. Playing indoors makes Rounders an all-year-round sport, keeping players fit and active, ready for outdoor play in the spring/summer season. It is a fast, exciting version of the traditional game, played in a sports hall with the ball bouncing off the walls at crazy angles and its own set of rules. Note: The equipment section lists Rounders bat dimensions along with the size and weight of the balls. the bowler or catcher's view is obstructed for a second time, after a warning given on the first instance;Once you have worked through these lessons with your KS2 class you might find these resources useful:

A batter is out if a fielder catches the ball after it has been hit and before it touches the ground, a fielder touches the post of the base halfway up (or higher) with the ball while the batter is running to it, the batter deliberately drops or throws the bat, or another batter runs to the same base or overtakes a batter, in which case both batters are out. After striking the ball, batters will try to score runs by running around four (4) separate bases marked out on the field. The truncheon shaped Rounder bat should have a secure grip. Any binding should be appropriate for safe gripping.

Even though the rules allow 15 members in a squad there should be no more than 9 playing on the field. Rounders is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams. Rounders is a striking and fielding team game that involves hitting a small, hard, leather-cased ball with a wooden, plastic, or metal bat that has a rounded end. The players score by running around the four bases on the field. [2] [3] A regulation Rounders team consists of nine (9) players on the field at any one time. But, the number of Rounders players may vary depending on the level of the match or competition. The bowling rules in Rounders allow you to play the game with a white ball, like in softball rules, or with a coloured ball. So, a traditional hard white ball will be more practical if you will be playing in a grassy green garden. Four Rounders posts should be set out in a diamond shape and fitted with safety caps. Even though they are not fixed into the ground, they usually have a base for extra support.

The first nationally formalised rules were drawn up by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland in 1884. The game is still regulated in Ireland by the GAA, through the GAA Rounders National Council ( Irish: Comhairle Cluiche Corr na hÉireann). In Great Britain it is regulated by Rounders England, which was formed in 1943. While the two associations are distinct, they share similar elements of game play and culture. Competitions are held between teams from both traditions. The governance of Rounders England health and safety rules takes place from Sheffield. They are the non-profit sport’s governing body (NGB) in the United Kingdom.
