Q: You studied journalism at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu. Did studying journalism help you when you decided to write your novels? The purpose of the evening is for you each to have a chance to talk about what is going on for you in your life right now. What there is to be grateful for and a challenge you are facing at the moment in any area of your life. At that point the other women in the group can offer their compassion, support, love and any wise words or suggestions they have to offer that might help you deal with your challenge or even find a solution to it.

Because when you know you have a group of women behind you, supporting you, you dare to go after the dreams that you might not otherwise have had the courage to go for. Because you no longer feel that you’re doing it alone. Behind every successful man is a woman who believed in him, believed that he could do it and helped him to do it because she knows better than anyone else the strength of a man when he’s on top. This is the case of my own parents, where my mom brought many career and business opportunities to my dad through her connections at her church in Costa Rica. In addition, she also took care of everything for him (finance/accounting, the entire household responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, hosting home parties, etc.) What’s most amazing about this is the fact that she has a Chemical Engineering degree and she gave up her career to support my dad. I’m sure you have seen many such examples. Behind every successful man is a great woman. You are the reason why he works so hard, why he makes sacrifices and always puts his family first.
