While views varied slightly on serves, our playtesters thought the Head Radical MP 2021 offered the qualities needed to close out service games successfully. Chris had no issues settling into a nice, consistent serve. He said, "I was getting enough power on my serves with the Radical MP 2021 that I never felt like I had to work too hard. I'm not the biggest server, but my first serves had the pace needed to draw errors from the returner. I could even sneak in some aces with my slice serves wide on the deuce side. I was happy with the spin I was getting on my second serves, and I found I could keep the pace up and still maintain consistency." Advanced singles and doubles players who want a good blend of comfort, feel, and stability will like the Radical Pro. It is great for players who can create their own power and control the point with precision and spin. String pattern: The string pattern of the Head Radical MP is 16x19, which means that it has 16 main strings (vertical strings) and 19 cross strings (horizontal strings). I used RPM Blast and this pattern provides a good combination of power and spin. Tiffani - "I do not play with racquets in this spec range often, so it's difficult for me to compare. A lot of other racquets in this weight range have 100-square-inch head sizes. I would recommend the Head Radical S 2021 to players who want a generous hitting area and good power without sacrificing too much control." The open string pattern of the Radical MP allows for great spin potential for an advanced racquet as well. This racquet won’t have as much power as some other advanced tennis racquets, but it will offer a bit better control and feel. The Radical Pro is Great on Groundstrokes & Serves

On groundstrokes, you’ll find the Radical is easy to swing, but with enough weight to get depth on your shots. You’ll have good control on offensive or defensive shots as well. The 2021 Head Radical MP is competitively priced with other similar racquets such as the Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 and Wilson Blade 98 16x19. The Solinco Whiteout 305 is another racquet with similar specs that comes in a bit less than the Radical MP. Final verdict Exclusively only with us: This product is available exclusively in the online shops and/or branches of SIGNA Gruppe Head size: The Head Radical MP has a head size of 98 square inches, which is considered a medium-sized head with a good balance of power and control.Similar to my Head Speed Pro, I felt like the Radical had no real weaknesses. I generated a good spin and power on my serves. From the baseline, it performed similarly on my groundstrokes with a high level of comfort. I was able to hit with easy depth and topspin. The Radical MP's characteristics came together nicely on Jason's serves. He said, "I felt like the maneuverability, stability, spin and control all added up to make this a very solid serving racquet. I would've liked just a tad more pop on my serves, but other than that, no complaints." The Radical will attract players who like to hit cleanly from the baseline that need a laser guidance system to play their shots. I got more power and precision from the Radical than the Pure Drive. The Radical is certainly not as forgiving as the Pure Drive and this fact may sway many buyers Final Words We recently did a playtest on the lighter version of the Radical, the Head Graphene 360 Radical S, and we were fairly complementary. All new for 2021, Head introduces the Radical MP with Graphene 360+ technology! This eye-catching Radical MP was developed with the versatile all-court player in mind, offering the perfect combination of power, control, and spin for a broad range of players

Stability: I’ve always liked the stability of the Radical line from Head, and this one continues in the same mold. Compared to the Gravity MP and my previous Graphene Touch Radical MP this 2021 version handles pace and depth just slightly better due to its heavier 5-gram weight. The Radical S felt fast and easy to use for Mark up at net. He said, "Typically, if a racquet is light enough for me to swing from the baseline over extended periods of time, it is light enough for me not to have any maneuverability excuses at net. That said, I had no issues getting the new Graphene 360+ Radical S into position for any shot inside the service line, and I'm happy to report that there was a high degree of comfort, along with sufficient stability." Serves - Score: 79 I like that the racquet kept my swing options open and didn't force me into a particular style of play.” When you’re hitting volleys you’re really looking for two things, control, and feel, and both of these things are closely linked to stability. Always looking to close the point out at net, Erik found that the updated Radical MP suited his volley game well. He said, "This racquet was very solid on volleys. I found it to have a nice blend of maneuverability and stability. It was easy to hit volleys deep in the court due to the slightly higher launch angle. This racquet also had really nice feel at net, and I felt connected to the ball overall, especially when hitting drop volleys." Serves - Score: 82Versatility: The Radical MP is marketed as the all-court player’s racquet in the Head lineup. It works well for a variety of playing styles, including power baseliner, counter-punching, and serve and volley.

Mark - "I am happy to say that over the years, the Radical S has steadily gotten heavier, both in terms of static weight and swingweight, but not so much that it is no longer a 'tweener. Aside from those slight changes, all of the Radical S versions are comparable. The Prince Legacy 105, Dunlop FX 500 LS, Dunlop SX 600, Head Graphene 360+ Gravity S, Yonex VCORE PRO 100 280 and Wilson Pro Staff Team also feature specs that are comparable to the Radical S 2021." Brittany - "Players who have used the previous Radical S will not be disappointed with this update. Head made some small changes that didn't seem to affect the overall playability. Feel is slightly changed, but I found that to be an upgrade. There are not a lot of similar racquets on the market since the head size is not widely made, but I would say the Prince Warrior 100T, Babolat Pure Aero Team and Yonex VCORE 100 280 have some similar specs." Intermediate and advanced players who like to control their shots with spin and feel will like the Radical MP. It doesn’t sacrifice too much power either. The Radical MP followed the same pattern on the serve as it did on the groundstrokes and the volleys. It’s also not a string that produces a huge amount of spin, so it would be a good test of the Radical’s spin potential.

Serve

The spin and power levels were spot on so long as you weren’t swinging too aggressively, and I found the Graphene 360 Radical MP to be more comfortable than previous versions. The praise continued from Erik. He added, "I really liked this Radical MP on groundstrokes. It took a little getting used to at first, but once I dialed it in, this racquet was really solid off of the ground. I could get nice plow through and hit a really heavy ball with a lot of spin." Volleys - Score: 85 In this sense, the Head Graphene 360 Racial MP reminded me of the Babolat Pure Drive, as I was hitting with a great flight path and a ton of topspin.

When it does this, the energy you’re putting through the ball is dispersed into different directions. The Graphene 360 Radical MP is fine for volleying when the ball isn’t coming at you too fast, but the more the speed gets ramped up, the more it begins to struggle. The Head Radical has been one of the most popular models of tennis racquets in the world for decades. Jason - "This is the best playing Radical MP in a few generations. Its playability is comparable to the Babolat Pure Strike 16x19."Feel: This new version of the Head Radical MP is a significant departure from my last Graphene Touch Radical MP regarding feel. The response is much more solid and connected on impact, whereas the Graphene Touch version was more dampened. I thought I really enjoyed the dampened feel of the Graphene Touch Radical, but after trying this one, I realized I like the more crisp feel. However, if you play with more medium-paced swings then it could certainly be worth taking a look at. Like Tiffani, Chris found he needed to adjust the strings to really dial in his game. He said, "The Radical S 2021 felt super fast and easy to maneuver from the baseline. My first hit with the racquet was with a co-poly string installed, and I didn't find the groove. On my next outing, I hit with Head's Velocity MLT multifilament, and the racquet felt much, much better. The racquet felt crisp and lively enough to give me solid access to both depth and pace. I was able to easily brush the ball for spin since the racquet is so light and fast." This meant that when I went for my most ambitious, line-hugging shots I wasn’t as precise as I would normally be.
