Description

Several of Lightning's friends go to the race to act as McQueen's pit crew, much to his pleasant surprise. However, Sally stays home in Radiator Springs, and she, Lizzie, and Red watch the race from a television at Flo's café. Although Lightning loses the race, his good sportsmanship towards Strip Weathers makes him the true winner in the eyes of many fans, as well as Tex Dinoco, who offers him the coveted Dinoco sponsorship. In the story mode of Cars: The Videogame, Sally is one of the cars that competes in the Radiator Springs Grand Prix, Lightning's dream race. When he awakes in the Cozy Cone Motel, Sally is there to greet him, who informs him that there are new cars in town that are looking to race with him, as well as that Doc is waiting for him out at Willy's Butte.

During McQueen's training trip, when McQueen calls Mater to ask him for help, Mater mentions that everyone in Radiator Springs are missing Lightning, especially Sally. In 2001, the movie's working title was Route 66 (after U.S. Route 66), but in 2002, the title was changed to prevent people from thinking it was related to the 1960 television series with the same name. Also, Lightning McQueen's number was originally going to be 57 (Lasseter's birth year), but was changed to 95 (the year Toy Story was released), the number seen in the final film. To Lightning McQueen, the world's fastest race car, appearance is everything. Fans expect a celebrity like him to look great all the time: fresh, shiny, spotless! If only his fans could see him now." [5] In Moon Mater, Lightning plays a role in Mater's tale about how he became an autonaut and helped stranded agent Impala XIII, in which he is seen traveling down to the earth at incredible speeds, and eventually catches ablaze, before landing in the ocean. The rescue of the endangered autonaut makes the headlines, and Lightning, Mater, and Impala XIII are interviewed by newspapers and television shows. Despite McQueen's denial, Roger, Mater's shuttle, arrives and tells him he must go on another mission, and the two blast off into outer space, leaving Lightning in disbelief. His paintbrush is seen in WALL•E when WALL•E builds an EVE sculpture, in which he used the paintbrush as the left arm. Luigi's best friend in the world is Guido, a small pitty he's known since they were young and lived in Italy with Uncle Topolino and Mama Topolino. Despite their good friendship, they were known to fight a lot, but still made up in the end. After the crash, McQueen is desperate, sitting in his (earlier Doc's) garage, thinking about his future career and remembering Doc. However, 4 months later Sally manages to support McQueen and she persuaded him to continue racing. Sally is a 2002 996-series Porsche 911 Carrera. [2] Her engine is a rear-mounted 3.6L flat-6, that makes 320 horsepower at 6800 rpm. She completes a 0-60 run in 4.9 seconds, and hits her top speed at 177 mph. [3]
