About this deal

As others have said: it feels like 'half of a book', and not just because of where things are at the end of the novel. Dan Abnett has described this as the most difficult novel he has ever written, and it's not hard to see why. The thing about the Horus Heresy series is that it is a collaborative effort, several authors working together to expand a universe populated with a multitude of different characters, locations, and objects. The amount of work put in to maintain continuity in a series that has over two dozen other novels to it's name is truly impressive. Roboute Guilliman — Primarch of the XIII Legion ' Ultramarines', Lord of the Five Hundred Worlds, now know as 'the Avenging Son As a result of massive Ruinstorm created by Erebus in the Shadow Crusade the Astronomican had been thrown into a state of disarray, rendering navigation and communication impossible and effectively dividing the Imperium in half. Seeing the dire state of humanity, Primarch Roboute Guilliman saw fit to enact a contingency plan and create a new Imperium should the power of Terra fall. Guilliman had little knowledge of what was transpiring outside of Ultramar, and decided that rebuilding the Imperium was a necessity even if he was not sure if the Imperium was not yet destroyed. [1] Guilliman was overjoyed that one of his wayward brothers had arrived during his hour of need, but of all his brothers, he wondered why it had to be the Lion who had found his way through the storm. Though the Lord Macragge greatly admired the lord of the I st Legion, he felt there had always been a shadow upon him.

So, The Unremembered Empire. This is probably one of the bigger pieces of lore to be really "new" when it comes to the HH(Though I could be wrong), and man was it a nice thing to read about! This needs to be put right, with archives scoured for names. Also the CWGC needs to start telling the story of why so many of those who served Britain are not named and not remembered as individuals. The Beastmen are an all-new kill team, with 10 models who can be built as Fellgor Warriors or a range of fiendish specialists – including an Ironhorn, a Shaman, a Fluxbray and more. The kit also includes loads of interchangeable heads and horns, for that full custom Chaos experience. The other eighteen were the banners of the Legiones Astartes themselves. Guilliman had created this chamber in the greatest city of his homeworld in the hope that someday, after the Great Crusade was over, all of his brothers, all of them, could sit at a table with their father, as equals, and talk of the matters of empire. Ultramarines' Primarch Roboute Guilliman declares a reluctant Sanguinius of the Blood Angels Legion as the new ruling Regent of the Imperium Secundus on Macragge

In Dar Es Salaam, what was a large carrier corps cemetery is now a dusty wasteland with no markings. How that was allowed to happen is suggested in War Graves Commission meeting minutes from shortly after the war, found by Barrett, which states that the governor for the area “considered that the vast carrier corps cemeteries at Dar Es Salaam and elsewhere should be allowed to revert to nature as speedily as possible”. By 014.M31, the final year of the Horus Heresy, it had become clear to the Loyalists on the other side of the Ruinstorm that both the Emperor and His Imperium had survived the Horus Heresy intact. The Imperium Secundus' ruling Triumvirate then decided to abandon the project, which was now both unnecessary and seen as somewhat heretical and disloyal. The Imperium Secundus' territories were restored to their prior Imperial sectors or to the Realm of Ultramar under the Regency of Valentus Dolor. Unremembered_Empire_Horus_HeresyThe first thing to get us off the ground here will actually be what I didn’t like about The Unremembered Empire. Because whilst yes, I did enjoy it a lot, I couldn’t help but notice a few things that I wasn’t too happy with – case in point, the characters. Like Scars, the latest novel in the Horus Heresy series doesn’t spend a lot of time fleshing out its non-Primarch characters to the extent where they can be treated as Loken or Tarvitz-esque figures. A couple from previous books such as Know No Fear show up, true – but with the focus on multiple Primarchs, Abnett overlooks the other characters to the point where I’m struggling to remember their names even though I finished this novel earlier in the week.

After the battle, Guilliman and Lion El'Jonson almost came to blows over what to do about Konrad Curze, the Primarch of the Night Lords Traitor Legion, who was still loose on Sotha. Curze was believed to have been responsible for organising a series of suicide bombings and rebellions that targeted Guilliman's authority on Macragge, which resulted in Lion El'Jonson in his role as Lord Protector using the Dark Angels to put Macragge under martial law and deploying the Dreadwing, one of the Dark Angels' six specialised Hexagrammaton formations or "Wings," which made use of weapons of mass destruction like Phosphex and Vortex Weapons, to devastate the rebellious areas of the planet. Curze was ultimately captured by The Lion in the Illyrium region and forced to stand trial. I wish that wasn't the premise of the novel but there it is. I hated it. Maybe if the Night Haunter's fleet arrived with the world Eaters it just would have made so much more sense. The rest is kind of just melodramatic fluff dealing with Roboute's pedantic insecurities and the chiding candor of his surrogate mother figure, Tarasha Euten in an effort to squeeze in a "strong willed female voice". We have the continuation of John Grammaticus' arch which is probably the most enjoyable aspect of the novel.

Guilliman's closest advisors suggested that no one else could be head of state. No one else could possibly be regent, for he was the last known Loyalist Primarch. The last loyal son of the Emperor. The only loyal son. He was meant to become what he must, to invest himself as the rallying point of Imperium Secundus -- to be Imperial, and reveal his renewed strength, his resolve, his mettle and the glory, like a phoenix rising from the ashes. But in the end, with the arrival of their brother Sanguinius and his Blood Angels Legion in Macragge from the disastrous campaign in the Signus Cluster, Guilliman convinced his reluctant angelic brother-Primarch to rule as the Regent of Imperium Secundus, for he possessed more of the noble aspects of the Emperor within him. And in the meantime, you can experience the rise and fall of Imperium Secundus for yourself in the snappily titled ‘ Imperium Secundus’, a digital collection of 4 novels, 11 short stories and 3 audio dramas that tells the whole tale outlined above in much more detail, as well as exploring more characters and events from the period. Mwamkono Mwavaka and his wife in their garden in Kenya. His grandfather, who died in the first world war, has no known grave. Photograph: Uplands TV/Channel 4 But the unknowable Primarch of the Dark Angels is an enigma, a man with secrets about his secrets. While Gulliman is somewhat in awe of the oldest brother in the Emperor's brood, his respect doesn't translate into trust. Jonson, likewise, views Gulliman's empire-building as a flirtation with heresy, stopping short of condemning his brother outright. Of course, Jonson couldn't have much to say about Roboute repealing the Edict of Nikaea, having beheaded his own chaplain with his fist for upholding that very same decree.

A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here.Curze just makes everyone look so incompetent, pretty much single handedly conquers the entire planet. Only slightly exaggerating, not by much. Makes my favorite primarch and his legion looks like absolute fools. Which I'm a little bitter with Abnett's handling of the Dark Angels. If you don't know how the Heresy ends it leaves you wondering how any of these bumbling idiots could hope to challenge the likes Horus and Abaddon. The Night Haunter is a ridiculous character, not really a fan of the whole 9 foot tall post human in power armor conveniently disappearing in every shadow. Once Sanguinius had accepted the position of Imperator Regis, Regent of the Imperium Secundus, Guilliman accepted the position of Lord Warden, while Lion El'Jonson was named the Lord Protector of Imperium Secundus, a title similar in function to that of Warmaster.
