However, after her screen tests, North was not cast in either film. In March 1954, North had a brush with scandal when it was revealed that she had earlier danced in a bikini in an 8 mm erotic film. Fox capitalized on the publicity as the studio previously had with Monroe’s nude calendar posing in 1952. So it was that he found himself down at the shore with a small group of people, none of whom he had met before.These photographs capture the wet and wild atmosphere as hundreds of naked strangers embraced a moment of pure joy and freedom together in the cold North Sea at Druridge Bay in Northumberland in The North East Skinny Dip 2022. It has, he said, changed his own life. “It’s helped me mentally to be more comfortable and relaxed in society. “I’ve gone through a transition. I was incredibly shy. When I was taking my clothes off to go for my ordinary dip, I’d be looking around, is there anyone coming this way, anyone coming that way? But in this group, there is none of those feelings. We’re all here together.”
